Cat ate string, how long to pass? by
MAG
Hi folks-
Saturday night at about 9 pm our cat, Mariposa, swallowed a piece of
cotton string. It was soft cotton string (not kite cord), about 18
inches long. We saw half of it sticking out of her mouth, went after
her to get it from her, and she bolted the rest down while we tried to
grab...

Update: Benny's cloudy eye by
Rene
My b/f went to the opthamalagist (sp?) today to check on Benny's
cloudy eye. We had noticed it had definately got cloudier in the last
few days. After a number of tests, dilating the pupils, etc we learned
that he has a cataract in his left eye, most likely a genetic flaw
that has been there since...

Ernie update - he's okay! by
Karen M.
All of his test results came back great! He still has a bit of a fever,
but is responding well to antibiotics, so they sent him home with some
clavomox. He's much more talkative, purrs, and is still eating and
drinking well. He's a bit anemic, but we've been battling fleas here
since the fosters...

I need help with kitten ears by
Hurrikane
Hi all.
Zee B, my 4 month old black moggy seems to have a problem with one of his
ears.
It is going to be difficult to try and describe it, but here goes .... His
left ear flap seems to have developed a raised arch, sort of like a ridge
that follows the tip of the top of his ear on the inside. ...

Kittens fixed two days ago: Amazing recovery by
Al Kondo
I have two kittens that are now almost 4 months old. They were
spayed and neutered on Monday of this week. I was told to keep them
quiet by the vet for a day or two. I found that their playfulness was
somewhat limited when I brought them home on the first day. But I
could not keep them from...

How to make a cat sociable? by
bikerider7
My girlfriend and I share a small condo. We inherited a cat from
one of her former co-workers.
The cat has really taken to me. In fact, the cat displays an extreme
loyalty to me I have never seen in cats. My girlfriend, on the other hand,
is pure evil to the cat. Whenever she gets anywhere near...

Frontline PLUS by
George
I have two questions about Frontline PLUS:
A. Is there an advantage to buying it online? If so,
where is a good place to but it? My wife tells me that the prices
online don't look that good.
B. Is Frontline PLUS dangerous to animals? (There are lots of warnings
on the package.)
To reply directly...

Sudafed for Cats by
Mary
An update--
Due to the concern raised here about 30 mgs being too much for a
little cat, my friend managed to half a pill, which her kitty hated so
much she foamed and gagged it up. She then gave her a whole one (last
night this time) and by morning she was breathing clearly. Although
the vet said...

Bear is still sick by
Teddy
My black, long-haired 2 1/2 year old male kitty has a UTI and cystitis.
I've had to the vets 4 times since early Sept. The first time he had
been missing for aday and a half and came home sick with cornmeal
looking stuff on his back. I thought he'd been poisoned but vet said
no. Bear had a fever...

Tragic Mistake by
Mary
Unbelievably, my friend took two eight-month-old rescue sister tabbies
in to a Central Florida vet to be spayed, and when she returned for
her babies they had declawed one of them. The vet called tonight and
told her he will do "whatever it takes" to make this up to her. All
she can do is...

Some questions about flea infestation by
Suki
We have a flea problem in our house. Can you help us by answering the
following questions so we can combat the problem?:
1. Are there human fleas versus cat/dog fleas, someone told me that cat/dog
fleas cannot reproduce by biting humans--they need cat/dog blood. Is this
true? If so, how can we...

Dry Food vs. Wet Food by
Sandy McDermin
Don't know if any of you live in the Washington D.C. area and read the
Washington Post regularly, but they have a weekly column -- on Tuesdays
-- devoted to pet questions sent to Dr. Fox, the Animal Doctor. There
have been a few questions lately that brought up the issue of dry food
vs/or in...
