Retirement by
MaryL
As a few of you know (but most don't), I am planning to retire in August.
Our department held a retirement reception for me last week, and it was
*wonderful*- far more than I could possibly have expected or hoped for. The
reception was held now instead of in August because so many people will...

Giardia in nursing cat by
Susan \(CobbersMom\)
Picked up a foster cat a couple days ago with 5 day old kittens. The snap
test showed positive for giardia. I've dealt with this before in orphaned
kittens I've raised but not in a nursing mom. The vet put up Metronidazole
suspension, once daily for eight days. The protocal in the past has...

Update: Found a spot for Chloe! by
Brian Link
My sister finally came to the rescue. She's been mourning her own cat
who passed away last year, and was reluctant at first. This afternoon,
though, she'll be taking delivery of a relieved kitty.
Thanks for all your ideas!

Older cat ill....vet "puzzled" Any thoughts?? by
[email protected]
My neutered DSH male indoor/outdoor cat seems a bit ill.
He's just 13, we live in a very rural area, and he has never
encountered another cat, nevertheless, he is up on all shots, rabies,
leuk, etc.
In the past several months, he seemed to have lost weight and was
having trouble jumping. Took...

EarthTalk: Should house cats roam free outside?
It’s better for the health of the cat – and far better for the many
small animals that cats hunt – to keep them indoors, some say.

Testing blood sugar by
Richard Evans
We have an elderly diabetic cat and it's been a real chore testing his
blood sugar. It often takes 4-5 sticks to his ear to get a drop of
blood. I recenly stumbled on a technique that works every time.
While my wife holds him still, I insert my thumb in his ear such that
the ear is backed by the...

What to do with the ashes? by
-L.
Since Peewee is still sitting on my mantle (after a year), and Mimi is
due to come back next week - the question remains...what should I do
with their ashes...?
Pee liked going outdoors - and I'd be inclined to put him in a pot
outside with some bulbs, though I'm not sure I want him and Mimi...

Vet can't diagnose our cat. by
Mac Cool
I'm going to skip the long story and tell the symptoms, maybe someone can
help point me in a direction.
Six year old tom cat, fixed and overweight. He's been panting a bit
getting around the house lately which I chalked up to his weight (he is on
a vet prescribed diet and has been losing...

Drugs addiction and cat food by
djornsk
Our 1 yo british longhaired castrated male cat has been on Whiskas oh
so fishy for a week and he is going mad for the stuff to the point at
which I am wondering what the makers have put in it to cause this, and
whether I should be alternating it's use with other types of cat food
- any thoughts?

Any special care tips for a declawed cat? Sensitive toes normal?
Our newest addition to the family has had his front toes removed
(yeah, declawed, but we all know what that means).
He seems to be really sensitive about them and I am not sure if there
is any real problem or if I am over...
