Advice Needed for Adopting Adult Cats by
Lee
The time has come for us to open our hearts to some kitties who need a
permanent home. It has been a long time since we adopted cats, and
they have always been kittens. This time, we would like to adopt two
adult cats together, preferably two who have been companions.
I have never adopted adult...

"Multicat" litter: what makes it multi? by
Robotech_Master
I've noticed that one of the flavors of cat litter I can get (I use
Arm & Hammer) calls itself "Multicat".
Given that I'm about to be a multicat owner, I'm curious what the
difference is between that and "ordinary" litter. I have seen that
the texture of the granules is noticeably different, but...

nice little cat quote by
sosessyithurts
"I simply can't resist a cat, particularly a purring one. They are the
cleanest, cunningest, and most intelligent things I know, outside of
the girl you love, of course".

Introductions not going well by
blkcatgal
I took in a stray semi-feral cat over 2 months ago. She lived for 6 weeks
in our basement separated from my other 2 male cats. The other 2 cats knew
something was going on and could sense the new cat behind the door and
occasionally heard her. When it was time to introduce the new cat to the...

Wood scratchin post better? by
muffin
I see these very expensive scratching posts at Petsmart.
I was thinking of making my own scratchin post for our new cats.
Does carpet really provide a scratching post for the cats? These things
they sell look like fun toys for the cat but do they really provide a
scrathin post. I thought they...

Difference between "play" stalking and "kill you now" stalking.. by
Brian Link
Well, things are trundling along slowly but surely here. We've started
using a spray bottle and by god Henry respects its authoritah..All I
need to do is put it on the ground between him and the other cats and
he calms right down.
Anyway, Louis is relaxed enough to play (cautiously) in the...

Cystitis won't go away by
DrLargePants
Our 2 year old tom has starting having trouble peeing and when he does
manage it he seems to use anywhere but the tray. He's constantly
trying go and wondering around the house crying.
He was previously diagnosed with cystitis (he was passing small
amounts of blood in his urine) and given...

The hair battle - what do YOU do by
Christi Conley
to combat the shedding?
I have four indoor only cats - and my 2 males
shed like crazy all year round - the more I brush
them, the more they shed (or so it seems) - my
house is becoming covered with cat hair. I
don't have dust bunnies anymore, I have dust
elephants fueled by the cat hair - I can't...

cat with pancreas problems by
bob
I have a 13 yr old male cat. A blood test on him (1st time the cat had a
blood test) tells that an enzyme in his blood is very high due to the
pancreas not working properly, possibly pancreatic cancer. The normal level
for this enzyme is 300-1100, his level has varied during his 3 blood tests
from...

Auto Trader by
Cat Protector
Hi Mom,
Thanks for the idea regarding Auto Trader.
I might actually get money doing it this way. If I sell the car at $2200
(this is less the engine) or more, maybe I can get someone willing to buy it
for the parts. They also have an online auction as well. It is a nice idea.
The ads cost $27 for...

A three year update. A good story. by

Your boys are absolutely gorgeous! How lucky they are to have "found" you!
They photograph so well. I love the photo of them on the laundry. I have
two brothers (littermates) who will be 6 yrs. old next month. I adopted
them about a year ago from one of those pet clinics (their owner was...

Arthritis in Cats by
Clara Semps
My fur baby Chaplin is getting old. He's a large-boned Ragdoll who
turns 14 this September and weighs around 12 lbs. Down from 16lbs last
year.
This past year has been hard on him. Some of you may remember about the
lump in his tail I asked about. It's still there and I did have it
aspirated. The...

Vaccine question by
Meg St. Clair
To preface, I'm a great believer in vaccinations for both pets and
people. However....
My indoor only cat has a reaction to rabies vaccines. When I got her,
at about 11 weeks, I took her in for the last of her kitten shots (if I
remember correctly). She developed a lump at the injection site. I...

Tried window perchs? by
Jane
Hi,
I would like to get a perch for her Highness to look out the back
window of our house. She has many options for the front but there is
only one window that would be possible for backyard viewing and it's in
the small dining area.
I have seen some perches for around $20.00 in my Drs Foster and...

FLUTD by
K...........
Hi there,
Our cat is about 7 years old, and was first diagnosed with Feline Lower
Urinary Tract Disorder (FLUTD) about 5 years ago.
5 years ago we were told to keep him on a diet of vet food such as Hills
'C/D' or similar. It was spelled out that we should use dry food as this
would make him...

Tiger's surgery today by
Elizabeth Blake
I brought Tiger back to the vet today to have her procedures done (ear
cleaning, teeth cleaning, removal of tumor). She was not happy to be back
at the vet's. While I was in the waiting room I took her out of her
carrier. She was shaking, and just curled up in my lap and stayed put.
The vet...

Meetoo checked into hospital overnight tonight- I'm nervous by
SPillus
Hi,
My original post about Meetoo was about her arthritis but her blood test came
back and the vet said her calcium is high. Her potassium is low. She also has
an elevated heart rate. They are keeping her overnight to give her an IV
containing potassium and some insulin.
I did not speak to the vet...
