A glimmer of hope... by Fritti
Well, had some problems with the Net so I couldn't post this on the day I found it, but there was a tiny little message in the paper last Saturday about that puma on the loose. They have called in an expert from Pantera (which is kind of a shelter for big cats which had to leave their house), and...

This did not make me happy by Fritti
There's been quite a stir down here with us in the Netherlands. There's been a puma sighted! Prowling on the loose, and responsible for a few sheep killings, this big pussycat has managed to get a twenty-people party of police on the move. And kitty has eluded them for a couple of times already....

Reprieve for the puma by Fritti
Well, they had until today to capture the kittie alive, but so far no new sightings have occurred. However, there have been reports that came with quite detailed descriptions, so the, as it is called, "puma-team" from the Pantera institute, has gotten two more days to try and capture the puma....

problem with my new kitten by furby
Just got this kitten a few days ago and it has learned a kind of annoying little behaviour. While I am asleep it likes to cuddle up just beneath my chin and sleep. Very cute. BUT, when it wakes up and decides it wants to play, it starts to stick it's face into mine and then claw at my face...

Moving House with 3 cats. by FurrsomeFoursome
The prior configuration of the Foursome and I moved house several times. 1) Make sure they have "allowed" scratching alternatives, and in the right orientation for them. Some cats scratch carpet because they like the horizontal direction, some because they like the texture of the carpet. If they...

Cats Scratching at New Rug by FXDWG
We have two one year old occicats, and a brand new living room rug. They scratched at the old living room rug, but I guess it was made in a way that it didn't pull, or damage. The new one, well, let's just say it responds to the cat's scratching negatively. We're wondering if anyone has any...

Advice for choosing cat / cats by Gabstar
Hi, I'm hoping to become a cat owner soon, and I'm looking for some advice in choosing my new cat or cats. I've never owned a cat before, but I'm an animal lover and I have kept dogs and rats in the past, so I'm aware of the commitment involved in keeping a pet. I live in a large three-bedroomed...

RagaMuffin? by Gail Futoran
About four years ago a neighbor brought me a little calico stray she found in her yard. The kitten was clean and friendly and appeared healthy. I was reluctant to take her to the pound so I set up quarters for her in the shed. I put up signs but with no result, and after a vet checkup, including...

What should I do when my cat does this? by Garret Swayne
You know how sometimes cats get into a respiratory spasming thing like they're trying to clear something from their throat (a hairball or something??) I don't know what to call it. It's very rhythmic, and it appears to be involuntary, like they're choking on something and they're trying to...

Can you save by buying Advantage flea control for dogs and using smaller dosage for cats? by Garret Swayne
I've been told Advantage Flea control has the same ingredients, whether it's used for dogs or for cats. The only difference is that when you buy Advantage for dogs, the measured single-application doses contain more (because dogs are larger and require a larger dose). So if you have a...

Final word on measured dosing of Advantage/Frontline? by Garret Swayne
I asked in a previous post whether indeed we could save money by buying the largest size of Advantage or Frontline Plus (for the largest dogs) and then accurately measuring out a smaller dose for cats. The consensus was that this is indeed possible, and for example, a single "large-dog" dose of...

Help, my cat is a serial killer! by Garret Swayne
My cat Zacky is an indoor/outdoor cat, and he's forever bringing home prey that he catches. Every week or so, I'll come home and find a bloody lifeless bird in my living room (and the room full of feathers!) Or a lizard. Or a mouse. Or these really weird worms that are not snails or slugs,...

New Fish Tank - update! by Gary
Hi again, Had the aquarium installed for almost a week now, and Tigger has definitely claimed it as his!!! He has been up there for hours each day, he sleeps there, and if he is not sleeping on top of it, he is watching the water movement from the floor. What's he going to be like when I add the...
