FIP by formerly known as 'cat arranger'
We're taking of two feral kitties and haven't thought about them infecting our other cats. What is FIP and how is it transmitted? It's obviously not like HIV which can only be transmitted through body fluids, so why to they have such similar names? It is confusing. The kittens are about 8 wks. old....

kittens getting to VCA by Wendy
Do you think Chip might be able to get the kittens (how ever many don't get adopted this weekend) down to VCA on the 24th by 9:30? Dave has to be at work at 7 so he can't take them down but will be home in time to pick them back up. I'm not sure if she'll be able to show them that weekend but the...

Caution Against Animal Welfare League of Arlington, VA by Luvskats00
To: (ENICELY) If you believe the League lied to you, provided false information, told you they keep kittens (and bottle feed them for a certain amount of time), etc...and learned that the policy is to kill kittens/cats asap..then YOU need to document this. Most info you...

Help with rescue, please by Judith Umbria
I have searched for help on how to save a kitten about 4 weeks old whose mother was found dead two days ago, but have found very little that is useful. We didn't find the kitten until today. I am in Italy and there is no formula, no kitten bottle, none of the things mentioned in the rescue docs...

16 day kitten, eyes not open by Samantha G.
I have rescued an abandoned kitten. I am worried that the eyes are not open yet at 16 days, even though her ears are up and she is hearing. Her eyes show no sign of opening. I have had many litters before and always the eyes are open by a week and a half. Does anyone know the longest that it...

eyes are open! by Samantha G.
I just returned from the vet with the kitten (who I have decided to call Trinity), who is 3 and 1/2 weeks today. She is very underweight (5.1 oz, she should be 9-11 oz). The good news is that she doesn't have an infection, but for some reason, one eye is open, her other eye has not developed as...

Arboreal Ferals? by [email protected]
Has anyone else experienced their feral colony taking to the trees? My colony's feeding station is under a thick bramble bush which is sheltered by a healthy fir tree that extends up 35-40 feet in the air. It's at the edge of an industrial campus parking dotted with lots of much smaller (though...

Tonkinese MUST go (and has) by Phil
A couple of months ago, I asked for assistance in finding a home for a six year old female Tonkinese cat that would periodically urinate in large quantities on the carpet, pillows, mattresses, etc., even with a clean cat box nearby and a clean bill of health. The damage was becoming intolerable as...

Enforcing contracts by Richard Evans
I work with a rescue group that has a contract signed by all adopters. One clause states that if the animal is disposed of for any reason it *must* come back to our group. We've had several instances recently of people simply giving away animals they've adopted from us. In three cases. the animals...

Cats like her will live forever by Wendy
That's what my vet said about my testy Tigger a few years ago right after she hissed at him. I just got the call from the vet to report on how her dental cleaning went. They are amazed. They said they've never seen a cat her age with such good teeth. No cavities, no gum problems except a little...

TNR by formerly known as 'cat arranger'
I took two cats into a local shelter. One was a stray and the other was a friend's cat. The local cat advocates said that we could get them both neutered and that wouldn't be a problem. They came home with a large chunk cut out of their ears. The stray looks bad but the friends Siamese looking cat...

Suddenly, a kitten! by Priscilla Ballou
This afternoon my stupid neighbors caught a feral kitten whose mother would probably have come back and gotten it if they'd left it alone. After it was caught, who knows if she would? And then they didn't want the kitten! One family said "no" to their daughter who wanted it for a pet and the...
