Neutering the older female cat by
Lipgor
Hello everyone,
I am torn about the decision to neuter my 7-year old cat. I think that
it might be beneficial for her in the long run, but I am really scared
about possible complications and not sure if I have the moral right to
do it to her.
I paid $90 for her blood test, and vet told me she was...

tail docking and declawing by
Yngver
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/local/story/137778p-122499c.html
In the version of this story that ran locally, the lawyer for the breed group
said labeling tail docking as cruel was as silly as saying declawing cats is
cruel.
I guess she doesn't realize that declawing *is* cruel. I hope that...

Kidney Disease and Aspirin by
Kathleen
My 14 1/2 yr old cat was recently diagnosed with early Kidney Disease.
In the past, when given his yearly vaccines, he's always been given a
portion (I don't know how much) of an aspirin because he reacts very
badly otherwise - growling, hissing, etc. for 24-48 hours afterward
(this from a normally...

Pills and cats by
Angela
Such a tiny little pill to cause so much trouble! Cajun, is feeling better, and
now that he is, he remembers that he really doesn't care for me. Dean was
holding him, I was scruffing him and pilling him. Until yesterday morning when
Cajun managed to claw Dean pretty badly. (Still got him...

furr eating behaviour by
Amy Fong
Hi, one of my cats has been grabbing clumps of furr (ie after a brushing
session) and eating them. Any idea why she's doing this? (I have to
literally drag her away and yank the furr out of her mouth)
Thanks.

For those of you who read my earlier post regarding vets and whether they

Isabelle is picking on Tiggy by
Wendy
I'll try to be brief but maybe a little background would be helpful. All
cats mentioned are inside cats and none are declawed.
Tiggy is 16 (8 lbs.- good weight for her. spayed). She has always had a male
companion that she got along with. As of last August we had 2 cats Tiggy and
Ralf (8 yrs. old,...

Kitten with ?contractures? by
MsKitty834
I just received a rescued kitten - Siamese mix female, 10.2 ounces, in not too
bad shape except for a worm-belly - who has weird back legs. One is worse than
the other, but neither one can be fully extended, stretched out - there seems
to be something binding? She's lying on her back in my lap,...

Dangers in the grass by
Ed
Greetings,
Does anyone know the true risks of parasitic infections for a strictly house
cat being given outside grass? I believe an important part of the life
cycles of many pests include laying eggs on grass that is then eaten by an
unsuspecting host. Seems as if I would be exposing my cat...

Peeing inappropriately! by
SongSylvan
OK--twice in this past week, Chase had peed other than where he should. This
morning was the big lulu--he peed on me as I was sleeping.
I have no idea why. The litterbox is clean, he's eating and drinking well,
he's been playing well with Paintball, so I have no reason to believe...

Nature's Miracle's not working....! by
k conover
Hi, my cat Joey peed in the (carpeted) closet of a couple rooms when we
moved in to my house. I'm sure the stress of a cross-country move in March
and then this move in August didn't help! But I've put three applications
on Nature's Miracle on one of the spots, and whenever I open...

One week and 3 days after introduction - more advice? by

So I've had Marigold for a week and 3 days now. Marigold is getting
fustrated being cooped up in my room (and so am I because she is
Meowing at the early hours of the morning!). If I let whiskers in my
room, she tolerates Marigold as long as Marigold does not get within 3
feet of whiskers...

Cat does the wave by
Neil Law
This may we adopted two black kittens from the local SPCA - one male, Pepper and
one female, Chloe. Both of them are very sweet but very different.
Pepper since we bought him had this habit of sitting up for a long time on his
haunches - sort of like a Meerkat. Recently he's added to this...

I recently adopted a 5 year old dsh/declawed/spayed female who was taken from

Poor Cajun!!! Vibes please! by

He started acting quiet on Weds. By Weds night, he was hiding under the bed,
something he hasn't done since he was around 3 1/2 months old. (He's 9 months
old, rescued as a 7 week old feral kitten.) He stayed under the bed until
Thursday morning, not even jumping up on the bed to sleep. (usual spot...

Duffy - champion climber by

My brother and sister-in-law are visiting this weekend. I live in Texas and
they live in Pennsylvania, so this was my sister-in-law's first opportunity
to See Duffy. She "oohed" and "awwed" properly over both of my cats, but
they especially wanted to see Duffy climb the cat tree because they had...
