Prayers and purrs for my strays. by
Kraut / Larry Stark
Well I finally got my colony of strays that I care for all dug out and
their runs opened up and dry food refilled for now. Had to climb a
couple fences and wade through some waist high difts but they are
taken care of for now!! Now they can get into and out of their
shelters and to their food and...

and just like that.... by
Julie_Snowshoe[_2_]
Smudge walked out of her kennel, hopped up on the couch, cuddled next
to her humans and fell asleep. What?!?
When I got home from work tonight I found that Smudge had trashed her
back kennel in an effort to bury her food bowl. She had thrown, first
a mouse and then her towel into her litter box. ...

She Insists by
Will in New Haven
We have half a dozen indoor-outdoor cats in our complex. All of them
are out a great deal in good weather, a bit in more challenging
weather and all but one of them is staying indoors for the duration of
this awful winter.
Cleo, a pudgy older calico, is never one for staying out very long.
But...

What it's all about. by
BfloPolska
I'm cold. No one should be surprised. I live in Buffalo. It's cold,
I've been kind of snifly, and have been a ball of nerves.
I get under many covers and soon I'm not alone. Stosh comes to press
me with his mighty paws, but his purr is gentle. Philip the Fella does
not make such an effort, but he...

on them as I type.
My SIL in on a small resort island off the coast of Queensland that is
right in the path o fthe eye. She, and the other 'essential...

Homer's Odyssey follow-up by
MaryL
I am posting this as a separate thread because--for some reason--I cannot
find the original on my reader. I did locate it via Google, and it includes
a "ping MaryL" in the title.
I have not read the book yet, but I downloaded it to my Kindle some time
ago. It will now be next on my reading...

Boyfie is failing his duties by
Christina Websell
as a rat patroller. For a while I've suspected a rat around the chickens
and today I saw it cheekily running out to get the chicken food seconds
after I fed them. It was a large one that Boyfie should had caught when it
was small.
Guess it's time for the terriers again.
Boyfie is not allowed...

A most *familiar* visitor :) by
[email protected]
Stealing Julie's subject line (with modifications) for my short tale...
Guess who's been visiting me the past few nights? Hint: it was around
midnight and I was watching TV, when suddenly I heard a *very familiar*
scratching sound on the metal part of the screen door. It could only
be one person -...

Snow - lots of it! by
Mishi[_2_]
So far in the Syracuse NY area, we have gotten 114" of snow this year.
Just about 30 miles north, near the shores of Lake Ontario, they have
had 180"+ - and still more to come. Right now, we have between 2' and 3'
of snow - it has compacted some since the last storm. My outside cats
are pretty...

[OT] Rant. by
Yowie
I am appalled and outraged.
I went to the post office to send the Joe Grey Mystery books I had to on of
our our favourite lurkers, and thought I'd slip in a couple of packets of
tim-tams in since i've already got to pay for the postage anyway.
Once there, not only was I charged an already quite...

Cat-sitting, Part One (long) by
Mischief[_2_]
Hey folks,
Sorry I haven't been around, life has been treating me kinda harshly.
But here's a story i plan to be continuing through the week.
Starting yesterday, I started Cat-sitting for a friend of mine who was
going on a cruise with his new wife. I watched their three cats last
October when...

People in Queensland, please stay safe by
MaryL
Most of you know that Queensland (Australia) has suffered devastating floods
this year. I just left Queensland a few days ago, but not the area that was
flooded. Now, a cyclone is headed there. I hope the people in that area
escape major damage, but the cyclone is currently projected to be...

Duffy's 8th furdoption day and 13th purrday by
MaryL
I just returned from vacation in Figi, Australia and New Zealand, so I will
send an "off-topic" message about that soon. However, this one is
definitely ON-topic. Duffy adopted me on Jan. 31, 2003, and we have now had
8 wonderful years together. He was estimated to be 3-5 years old at the...

Homer's Odyssey (Ping MaryL) by
FirstHit
I just finished reading "Homer's Odyssey" by Gwen Cooper about a blind
cat and thought of you, MaryL. What a wonderful story!
I hope you and your Duffy are doing well. I think Duffy may be around
Homer's age.
I haven't been around here for a while but I see "Homer's Odyssey" has
been discussed...

Kittens by
David Rorer
There is a kitten over here
Another kitten over there
There's a kitten on my lap
Curled up for a nap
There's a kitten on my shoulder
Could a kitten get much bolder
A kitten purring in my ear
What a delightful sound to hear
Bad verse I know, but so what.

8 degrees (F) outside today by
dgk
And I fear for the little girl (Baby) living in the box outside my
door. I wish I could let her come in but that would be five cats and
it's just too many. Well, she has a very nice box made of styrofoam
and lined with straw that even has a pet-safe heating pad so she is in
much better shape than...
