Astroturf mats by
John Doe
Years ago, the local megastore had three or four different types,
but unfortunately they have stopped selling any of them here.
Astroturf doormats work great for the cat litter box area. They
work great for cat sleeping mats too, with some cover like a
towel, because they are breezy and...

fast, shallow breathing by
Rick Vigorous
I have a 4 1/2 month old female kitten that's been with me for six weeks.
Aside from coming home with a tapeworm, which has now been eliminated, she
seems the picture of health. Enormous appetite, weed-like growth, and
possessed of astonishing energy and strength (she'll jump 5 feet straight
up to...

POLL - Is it OK to breed your cat? by
KellyH
I have been labeled an extremist and a lunatic because I do not think it is
OK for someone to breed their cat. I'm wondering who else feels this way.
BTW - this is not a breeder, it's just someone with a regular old moggy who
wants kittens that are just as sweet and special as their...

"Science Diet" Hairball Control Sensitivity by
Alaininsd
Hello All!
We've got two tabbies, Spirit and Angel, each is about 3 years of age.
They both eat the same food but Angel has an on-again, off-again
sensitivity to the above food. Sometimes she'll go two weeks without
vomiting, another time it's twice a day! It always comes up yellow...so
we presume...

Tough love for baaad kittie by
gertrude
Ever have difficulty keeping kittie away from places in the house where
he/she isn't supposed to be?
In light of the fact that feline mommies typically carry their kittens about
by the skin at the rear of their necks, here's an effective but harmless way
to administer negative reinforcement to a...

CHLORPHENIRAMINE (Chlortrimeton) for Cats? by
Mowzer
My cat Noodles has asthma an allergies to various things.
She gets steroid shots at long intervals, and I take the
usual precautions by keeping the windows closed, air filters
on, duct vacuumed, etc. We have identified foods that cause
her the least trouble, and she is on them.
However, she...

Toilet training ?? by
moi
I've
never seen the need for litter boxes.
I wish - mine come in from outside to use theirs! :o(
I will admit we adopted them when they were 5 years old and they had never
been allowed outside before. Five years later and they still dash in and
dive in the box. At least my neighbours can't...

Need to know if a cat has had kittens by
MacCandace
How can I tell for
sure? What should I do?
I'm sure a vet could tell. Is she trying to get out desperately. Usually, if
they have kittens, they don't want to be away from them very long. How long
have you had her inside?

Cat Drowned In Pool by
Tlg064
Just came home from work and decided to go in the pool and found one of my cats
floating in the water. A heartbreaking and horrifying sight. She was a stray I
took in 6 or seven years ago and getting up there in age and having a little
trouble walking. I cant bear the thought of the cat...

Is De-clawing a US thing? by
Jeannie
I was just wondering but is de-clawing cats particular to the US? I live in
the UK and until I subscribed to this newsgroup, I didn't even know that you
COULD have your cat de-clawed! Needless to say, I am totally against the
idea but I have never heard of anyone here who has ever come across...

Woman Let's Go Of Cat To Survive by
Cat Protector
A woman in this story due to the floodwaters caused by Hurricane Ivan
actually let her cat's cage (yes with the cat inside) go so she could
survive. This is horrible. It just goes to show you that some people care
more about themselves in a crisis situation. Her response about the whole
situation...

long hair cat - tail got thin over the weekend by
robro
I have an indoor cat here at the office, he's just over 8 years old.
I've had him since he was 2 weeks old. He's a big, long hair, never
had health issues other than weight. We had to move him out of the
house when he bit my 1 year old. His diet has been purely Innova
reduced fat adult cat food...

How do you get a cat off a power pole? by
Candace
Another freaking cat crisis in my 'hood. Of all the zillions of
outdoor cats I now feed that have been dumped (discussed here
previously so I won't bore everyone)--literally 9 regulars, 3 semi-
regulars, and several other occasional drop-ins (those have homes, for
the most part)--tonight while...

Cat has CRF by
Kolbard
Hi,
I wouldn't even be posting about this, except Google Groups search is
broken.
My 16 year old cat was recently diagnosed with CRF (about 2-3 weeks
ago). She isn't dehydrated, but her phosphorus levels are through the
roof (19.7 at her last test). The vet didn't even mention anything
about...

Feeling Good... by

All in all, things are going pretty well around here! I'm working on my
donations pick-ups for alley cat rescue at work, have managed to work in a
little raw chicken liver into all the cat's (well...maybe not Misty's!)
canned foods, and, amagingly enough, h0p is doing much better!
I thought I saw...
