monkey's conversation by sukrati
Once in America a plane crashed, only a monkey who was traveling in the plane was left alive. Fortunately the monkey was intelligent enough to understand our language and reply in actions. The officials went to see the monkey in the hospital and had a talk with the monkey. Officer: "When the...

how many meals? by Barb
How many times a day do you all feed your cats? My cats seem to be less interested in breakfast but down their dinner with no problem. They get a 5.5 oz can per meal and some dry. They are 6 and 2, very active and have great check-ups. Barb

When do you "call it a day"? by Eddy[_2_]
I would like to know various people's views on when one should "call it a day" when a beloved pet has a very serious illness. If increasing part of the medication to maximum level will give the animal good quality of life for a large part of the day though in the end the side-effects of that large...

Long-term Consequences of Starvation by FirstHit
There is a sweet cat I am interested in at the shelter. The cat looks emaciated. She is sickly right now and is not very energetic, but she is eating and I hope she will put on weight. If the cat gains weight and starts appearing to be healthier, I wonder if she will be plagued with health...

Please slow down by Brian Link
Horrible night last night. I was trying to sleep after pulling four 16 hour shifts. I heard a horrible "thump-meow" out my window. When I looked out the window, the neighbor's cat was in his death-throes. Some asshole was speeding down the street and freaked out the cat, who made an attempt across...

And here I thought we were through with this... by jmc
First, Meep hopped into the tub this morning, hopped straight out shaking wet feet and I laughed... I didn't realize she was trying to tell me something. When she tried to pee in my "shred box" I got a clue, checked the litterbox - couple of good pees, but on top, two or three quarter-sized...

Idiopathic cystitis by jmc
So, even after seven years of dealing with this, I still learn new stuff. In the past, I've alway whisked Meep off to the vet whenever she has an attack. Gradually, though, I've realized this hasn't really been in her best interests - although for a while she'd always get an antibiotic, my...

Mixing an FIV+ cat with FIV- cats by brad
Hi there, I have three wonderful female kitties (ages 3,6,14) that I adore. All three have been spayed and all are healthy and negative on diseases. A few years ago I placed an FIV+, neutered, solid white male with an older lady. A few weeks ago she passed away. The kitty is now nine years...

"Painless ending for a cat by Granby
I don't want to post right now but have to tell you something. I just got back from having my Sadie dog PTS. This vet, a new one to me, did the two step method. They gave a shot in the hip area to relax her. It did in just a very few minutes. They he administered the second shot. I told him...

Nebby to be operated on for Patellar luxation - Both back legs! by chatnoir
It is going to be done at the VRCC Center in Denver! The surgery does not sound serious; but then too I had not had a good experience on cat survival from the VRCC! Three went in, one came out alive and he died a month later! Their situations were of course very serious! Still, I have some...

Pooping on the floor by Deuteros
I posted about this here several months ago: I have a 7 year old male cat. He's had no behavior problems since we've had him but several months ago he started pooping on the floor in random places. He still poops in his litter box sometimes and he is still peeing in the box (as far as I can tell)....

Flutd food problems by Jo
My 11 y/o cat is prone to calcium oxlates stones. He had been eating Hill's x/d dry when he developed a food allergy. He was switched to Hill's k/d dry but is allergic to that too (same main ingredients - rice, corn, and chicken). The vet wants to put him on Hill's z/d dry or (I think) on Hill's...

I had 3 feral cats, all siblings, all 5 yrs old, all with microchips Had them for 5 years living in a wooded area behind my apartment. Fed, vaccinated and "fixed" them all. 1 yr ago I moved to a home that had a very large preserve in the yard. 1 of the 3 cats left the 1st day - never came...

Under it, behind it, next to it, but never in front of it. Is there a catty reason he likes the fan?
