For those of you with Indoor Cats by
Peter W.[_2_]
Now that the warm weather has come to the northern hemisphere, it is important for those indoor cat people to understand a few truisms that many would like to deny:
a) Mosquito-borne Parasites, Diseases & Viruses: parasites such as heartworm, viruses such as West Nile and diseases such as Horse...

Another method for feeding dry food by
John Doe[_2_]
One of my cats mainly gets Purina Pro plan dry after it is placed in
a zipper sandwich bag, filled with 50% water, sealed, and let
saturate before refrigerating. Take some practice to get the mixture
correct. Been doing that for 7+ years.
About a year ago, I discovered another method that is...

my cat refuses most of the food; lost weight by
Alwood
I thought I posted it yesterday, but don't see it appearing anywhere....
OK, my cat Vas'ka (neutered male, 17 year old, tuxedo cat), has been progressively refusing all sorts of food, yet he feels hungry and keep asking for food... He's lost 6 pounds withing a year (14 down to 8 now). He lost his...

Cat refuses all food, lost a lot of weight by
Alwood
My cat Vas'ka (17 years old, neutered male), refuses to take any food offered to him by now, but is terribly hungry and keep asking for food. We tried regular dry food, canned food, baby food, tuna for humans, all kind of treat, high caloric jell in tube, raw chicken cut into tiny pieces, tried to...

Beware of cat on window air-conditioners by
John Doe[_2_]
Beware of cat on window air-conditioners.
This might not apply to anyone here, not suggesting it is
anything but an unfortunate rare occurrence. But just in case...
My neutered outside feral attempted to jump from the window AC
unit onto her nearby covered platform (with a heating pad)....

Full Circuit on Male Cat Blockages by
Peter W.
Do you all remember when male cats were supposed to be neutered as soon as possible as there was "No effect on future urinary problems"? And everyone looked down on people delaying neutering to allow male cats to mature?
Not so much any more. Our 4-year, 6-month old Maine Coon mix went in for...

For the Holidays by
Peter W.
No self-respecting cat will eat a toxic plant. The only way this would happen is if they already were on a restricted/inadequate diet exceedingly low in roughage. Poinsettias may be toxic, but not sufficiently toxic to be dangerous.
However, Lilies of any kind, and anything in the lily family are...

Litter Robot 3 "open-air" by
John Doe[_2_]
Bought one. Not sure about prior models, but it is okay. Doubt I
would have liked the preceding models' small openings. With the
current model you can easily wipe off the inside, so you can
remove the shield, giving them a little more room inside.
Mine slightly bobs up and down as it cycles. I...

Cat Ass Trophy by

Our young guy, Seamus, caught a young squirrel out in the dog/cat yard (cat-proof fencing). He ate most of it, but saved a trophy.
Just doing what every cat wishes it could do.

Singing to cats by
John Doe[_2_]
I sing badly, but...
After 10 years of singing to my hard-core feral, it is finally
coming out to me.
Also... Singing works with strays. You can see them relax
immediately when you start singing to them.
Not talking about a ballad, just a few words repeated over and
over again. Monotone, does...

Hard-core feral softening up after 10 years by
John Doe[_2_]
Never say never. After 10 long years, my hard-core feral appears
to be softening up to me. Early on, I began singing (badly) to
her because it visibly relaxed her. Over the last month or so,
she has started coming around me while I am in my computer
chair. I can usually gently grab her tail as...

John Doe by

Hmmmm… I have come to doubt this individual’s understanding of what a “Feral” cat actually is. There are, typically four types of cats seen in outdoor settings, broad brush:
a) Housecats that are allowed outdoors – common enough. In some areas, outdoor access is a requirement to...

Filter fan makes litter duty easy by
John Doe[_2_]
My filter fan broke. Before, I would pick it up and take it into
the closet where there big litter pale is. Put the filter fan on
high, scooped, and then sprayed some bleach into the clump
container before tying it up.
I knew the filter fan drew all of the dust away, but I did not
realize how...

Looks like 1/8 inch recycled rubber mat works well for climbing by
John Doe[_2_]
Besides the fact that it stinks horribly for weeks, it has
started shedding fine particles. The thick stuff I used
before worked great. It showed signs of wear, but did not
shed any rubber. Next time I will try getting that other
formula in a thinner version.
Looking back at my posts......

Coat matting by
reilloc
Advise, please: my long-haired cat, who's got a personality more
suspicious than a mother/father-in-law (take your choice) and a hair
trigger when it comes to any sudden noise (and when the trigger trips
the creature turns into a buzz saw that must get away) has significant
matting of his coat....

Old cat can't keep any food down? by
zhenzhen
Hello, I'm fairly new here but I just wanted some advice about my 16 year old cat Spot? He's still quite a mobile, vocal cat but he's unable to eat pretty much anything without throwing it up a few minutes later; have tried Fancy Feast tuna, Dine, Whiskas wet food, and just plain old Coles brand...

Introducing new food gradually by
John Doe[_2_]
Introducing new food gradually by the book is great, but you
must be on the lookout for a gradual decrease in food intake.
That is likely especially true if you have multiple cats and
one of them has an eating disorder, you must keep an eye on
that one.

Cat Passed away by
Charles Devlin
We brought our cat into the Vet today for minor eye surgery ( lower eye lid).
Our cat (Phoebe) was 8 years old, and in good health. 5 hours later, the Vet called to say he was very sorry, but Phoebe passed away after surgery. My wife and I are devastated. We used all our savings to pay for the...
