Sudden Weird behaviour by
The Doctor
Just got our cat back last night into the house.
For about a day or so, he was avoiding our property for 24 hours.
He was more or less out for 72 hours.
Recently at the start of June 4 kittens and their parents have taken a small area
of our property to just raise the kitties.
I wonder if our...

Cat herding, it is possible by
John Doe[_2_]
After about one month experience... With very limited use, and not actually
shocking anything (of course), just the sound of a stun gun can be an
extremely effective tool for convincing your cat to do something or stop
doing something.
Currently one of my cats is on the porch. She can also...

Cat has scabs on his back by
Baldoni[_10_]
I have adopted a cat that was left in my street he belonged to a girl
who moved out and left him behind. I have treated him for worms and
fleas several times over the last couple of years and that's not a
problem. He has however several scabs that run along his spine and I am
hoping someone can...

My outside cat has an electric blanket by
John Doe[_2_]
I was thinking of ways to keep it warm during the winter. You know, boxes
or whatever. I bought an electric blanket and it hasn't left the area since
that day. The weather hardly gets below freezing, so I'm hoping for a cold
night :) I think it will work at least down to 0°F. One night was about...

Mats? by
Rhino[_3_]
My male cat, who is 15, has longish hair and it is prone to getting
mats. This year is especially bad and he's getting a bit testy with me
as I try to deal with them.
He's never really been a fan of brushing or combing - unlike my mother's
cat who INSISTS on at least five or six brushings a day...

Feeding schedule for cats at home alone by
Rhino[_3_]
I may have to go out of town periodically in the coming months to deal
with my mother's health issues. I used to bring my cats with me (in a
carrier) when I had a car but I've got financial issues that keep me
from being able to afford a car for the time being.
That means I'm likely going to...

wrestling by
John Doe[_2_]
I've always enjoyed wrestling (real wrestling, not professional wrestling).
The newcomer female is bigger than my male. And she is a bully. Now they
are warming up to each other, they are frequently wrestling. Most of it is
friendly, but sometimes they get rough. He is probably in it for the...

Cat Vision by
John Doe[_2_]
My Fenix HL-50 (I guess that's the number) headlamp lets me see cats at
night. I was ready to feed the neutered outside cat. The only way I could
tell it was there (two yards away) is by the bright reflection of my
headlamp on its eyes, without even pointing the lamp directly at the cat....

After 8 years, my feral is using the Skyway! by
John Doe[_2_]
The hard-core feral cat has been here for eight years. It has a loft in
another room that's connected to their Skyway. Stays there most of the
time. But when it exits to eat and use the box, it always takes the
shortest route to the floor. But over the last several weeks or so, perhaps
having...

Peeing in corners by
Sylvia M[_3_]
I've been out of town, visiting my daughter and her family, and attending
my granddaughters university graduation. . . that's the good part.
My daughter's cat, Cleo, started peeing in corners of the room with her
litterbox, and on the rug in the foyer.
This may have started when they acquired a...

Best manual litter box by
William Vetter
John Doe wrote:
The local megastore is selling Sterilite 70 and 90 quart "EZ Carry" boxes,
the kind with the milky clear smooth sides. Never needs cleaning. Probably
there sturdiest plastic boxes. Including handles for easy manipulation. The

My hard-core feral by

It's the weirdest thing. If anything in its area is changed, takes weeks
getting used to it. It's the only cat that has not used their skyway.
The only exception is for getting up to and down from its loft. There
are two exit/entry directions it can go on the skyway, left...

Growth Spurt by
William Vetter
I brought home a female gray domestic shorthair kitten from a petshop
that was full of yiping puppies. A few cats in a rabbit hutch on the
floor in a hallway. This one was small, unsocialized, runtish, sat on
paws, didn't move.
She went into first estrus at 4.5 months. Another heat every 5...

High-ptiched beep tone in you're garden? Noise by
[email protected]
I receive complaints about the Cat Deterrent.
The elderly in particular use a cat-deterrent in their garden. It is a small apparatus with a speaker attached to it. It produces a high-pitched bleep of more than a 100 decibel. The sound is mostly only audible for children, youngsters and people...

Controlling fleas by humidity by
John Doe[_2_]
I just got wind of the idea that fleas can be controlled by
humidity. We have a very hot summer and I've been using the air
conditioner a lot. It removes tons of water. My male cat's skin
condition has improved to nearly 100%. Apparently it's a seasonal
thing. I'll be prepared from now on. Will...
