Omega Paw Self-Cleaning Litter Box by John Doe
Looks interesting. Anybody have one? If I buy it, I will follow up to this with a short review. According to reviews I have read... The large is much better than the medium. One trick to using it is tipping it slowly so that the good litter has a chance to move through the filter instead of...

Best cat bedding ever! by John Doe
I've mentioned Astroturf covered with paper towels before, but recently figured out a very easy way to apply the tape to the backside of the Astroturf for holding the paper towels. Below is my writeup on Flickr. Be happy to answer any questions. Their bedding material is Astroturf covered with...

Mouse toy gift by Mark Carroll[_2_]
My wife crocheted our cat a large mouse and he rather likes to keep it with him. One thing he likes to do, especially when everybody goes to bed, is walk around with it in his mouth, meowing loudly. Another thing he likes to do is to bring the mouse and deposit it in front of us. What isn't clear...

Weasel by [email protected]
Weasel is leaving us. Weasel is a gray tabby, age 19. He has been in decline for months, losing weight and growing progressively weaker. Nothing specific, just the ravages of time. He stopped eating days ago and now can't stand. If he is still with us in the morning, it will be time for a last ride...

How long do Bengal cats live? by [email protected]
I have been thinking about getting a Bengal cat but have heard that their lifespan is shorter than others cats. Is this true?

Newbie with a question by Joy
Hi all, I'm new here, although I'm a long-time subscriber to rpca. I'm hoping somebody has some suggestions to help a poor little feral kitty. Five years ago I adopted two three-year-old littermates, a male and a female. A few months ago the male got cancer and subsequently had to be PTS. ...

Cat Cremation Urns by Margarita Salt
For the past couple of years I have been trying to find a nice, elegant urn for Kami's cremated remains when she goes. What I have found is either dull, cheesy, or too cutsie. There was one porcelain urn that I liked, but it's $277. The first time I saw it, it was $165--maybe I should have...

Breakthrough! by Joy
He's getting bolder. Pickles always sleeps on my bed. This morning I woke up to hear Pickles hiss. I opened my eyes in time to see Koala run out of the room. Later, after I was up, he did quite a bit of exploring. While I was sitting in the living room he jumped up on the couch, considered...

The stigma of owning a cat. by David McCracken
Hi everyone: I haven't posted in this forum in a long while, but have always found it full of great people with much knowledge and love for cats. So I immediately thought of this newsgroup when I wanted to share this perspective about cat ownership. One of my two 10-year-old cats suddenly...

Feral cat visitor with fur problem by AL_n
I've been feeding a feral cat that has been coming into my house via my late cat's cat flap. This small black cat is extremely cautious, however he now lets me stroke him while he's eating, and sometimes beforehand. He seems to have something wrong with his fur on the rear 3/4 of his body...

Another benefit of Astroturf... by John Doe
Cats enjoy clawing on it. Apparently does not hurt the Astroturf, yet. So it gives them good clawing exercise. My indoor cats have been doing it for many months. Just noticed the outside (neutered) cat claw on some Astroturf that's on the porch. They are attracted to it for that purpose.

One paw withdrawn by The Doctor
Yesterday out tabby Boots looks as if he hurt his front left paw. He was cranky that he decided to hid in our yard. I thought keeping him in would be a better option than letting him stay out. We got him back in and off to the vet it was. The vet was nice (X-rays at C$190 that is high).

Duffy the blind *dog* regains his sight by MaryL[_2_]
There have been a number of recent stories about how Duffy the Irish terrier regained his sight. He lost his sight due to diabetes, but surgery was successful after Duffy’s diabetes was brought under control. Naturally, I immediately thought of my Duffy. Here is the story about Duffy the...

Whats the best cat food in the UK. To keep my cat healthy? by Mzh4
I'm wondering what people think of cat foods on the market at the moment. I'm worried that my cats food isn't doing her much good. Her breath stinks! She's had a dental check up and all is well. She doesn't eat biscuit as she doesn't seem to like it, no matter what ones I try her on. Currently...

Is there such a thing as "cat whistle"? by RPSinha
I have been asking a lot of questions, but please bear with me! My latest is: Is there such a thing as "cat whistle", something cats can hear and humans can't. (Similar to what's available for dogs.) Sometimes we have to go looking for our cat, who may be hiding who knows where. It is quite a...

my calico by John Doe
I can't believe it was on the street, what a great cat. Distinct markings, long hair. Very small though. If you put your hand over its head, it will stand up and bump its head against your hand. Is that hereditary or did somebody teach it? At least one of its kittens, the light kitten that looked...

Selective pet feeder recommendations by Arthur Rubin
Please suggest other groups this should be submitted to.... It's been a long time since I've accessed Usenet or Google groups. I'm looking for a feeder which only one cat can use; I have three cats here, and one of them can be free-fed. Others should be on a restricted diet. I tried the...

hair/fur shedding by whisky-dave
My cat is white and tends to shed far more hair than my previous black/white and mixed fur cats have. Do white haired cats shed more or is it just that it notices more. i.e do I have to give up wearing coloured clothes ;-) She's not too keen on being brushed/combed either A few pictures...
