Mooch Fan Club update

It's been awhile since I brought you fan club members around the world
up-to-date on the life of Mooch, our resident stray. He has now
survived three bitterly cold Canadian winters, eating up to five
catered meals a day on our veranda and sleeping in a heavily padded
and blanketed chair equipped with two heating pads.

Now it's summer, and this year for the first time we've provided Mooch
with a summer bed on the veranda - a smaller chair that's still padded
but minus heat. He sleeps there every night, and rises for the first
of his meals promptly at 5:20 am every morning, then leaves to do his
business. The newspaper arrives around 6:00, and after it's dropped
off Mooch returns for his second breakfast. Noon is time for his
lunch, and his final meal is just before dark, In the warm weather one
of us always sits a few feet from him, protecting him and his food
from hungry neighbourhood cats, raccoons and the occasional skunk. In
the winter we stand guard at the den window facing the veranda.

One of the reasons for Mooch's survival is his caution. He's known us
for almost four years now but his rule is still "feed, but don't
touch". We prefer it that way. We know that a cautious stray is a safe
stray.

I call him stray. I'm not sure if that's the correct word, because now
he's one of the family. We hope he's with us for many years to come.
If you wish, next Mooch mealtime I'll pass on greetings to him from
you and your kitties.

I hope Mooch 2 continues to brighten your days for many, many years to
come.

How fortunate you found each other!
