So sad :-(
You all remember the little red panda that was being fed by a mother cat
here in Holland ? They found him dead yesterday morning. He'd choked on the milk, his trachea was filled with milk. What a tragic accident, especially since he was in a very good condition otherwise :-( Nanny |

It sounds very unusual though. It's almost impossible for a baby animal that is suckling in a normal way (from a mother) to get milk in the trachea (windpipe) unless a) some inept human has tried to supplement the milk it's getting and doesn't know what they're doing, or b) there is some defect in the oesophagus (like a hole) and a corresponding one in the trachea to allow the milk to pass over. It's sad, anyway. Tweed my bet is on a) |
