In a move eerily reminiscent of Norman Spinrad's classic SF short
story "The Arsenal of Entropy," a draft law proposed by the Denver
Police Department would ban the possession by protesters (at this
August's Democratic National Convention) of (among other things) items
that can make urine and feces bombs.

Quoting from a Denver Post article, "Police say that such materials
are potentially dangerous. The City Council Safety Committee will
review the proposal July 23."

I'm wondering just how Denver's Finest are going to be able to make
the city safe from projectile dung.

I mean, the youth of America stand second to none in their ingenuity,
and all they would really have to do is load up on All-Bran in the
morning before taking to the streets on the fateful day.

Hmm... Now how are you going to ban those when they can easily be brought
in *inside* the people who are attending? Will people have to pee and poop
before entering?? boggle

Will they have the surgeons at the ready... ready to operate and remove the
kidneys, bladders, intestines.. bowels.. of those attending?

Ewwwww, no way. Glad I don't live in Denver any more.
Seattle was the site of the WTO riots years ago, and it got really ugly.

Now, that really *is* funny -- or truly sad, considering the lack of
intelligence implicit in that regulation. Don't they know proposals like
that are more likely to give ideas to people than to prevent it??

That is America for you. We have to right to get the directions on how to
make pipe bombs and do all sorts of things. Next we will have a gazillion
dollar study to see if the sales of AlBran is going up!! I hear that even
the how to do it Meth quide is available. Just seems to me that some things
don't have to be a "right".
