Laku does this "covering up" thing too at times. Sometimes it's when
we've just given him new food and he's sniffed at it and then "covers it
up", sometimes he walks up to his bowl, first does a few covering up
scratches and then settles down to eat. I've begun to think that the
covering up scratches wouldn't necessarily mean that he thinks the food
offered was like poop - not up to his standards - but maybe also, at
least sometimes, something like "I'd better cover this up so nobody else
finds it", like a d*g burying a bone...
