Default Why so angry?

I wonder what you all think about this. I have a female cat named Flaggie; she is 4 years old. (I also have two other female cats and all get along.)

This is Flaggie's back story. A friend of mine had a stray cat show up in her backyard. She started putting out food for her and looked for the owner with no luck. She had two other cats and was hesitant to bring in a third one. Winter was coming and she set up a box outside with towels inside and plastic over the top. The cat loved this but soon a giant snowstorm was predicted and my friend put the cat in her garage where she stayed for a week or so. One time when the garage door was up, she ran out and returned to the box. My friend decided to clean the towels and when she pulled them out, she found the cat had just given birth to 5 kittens. So when the Mom came back to the box, she blocked the hole and took the family to her spare bedroom which is where they lived while the kittens grew up. My friend loves cats, and these kittens got plenty of love and kisses every day of their lives and all grew up very nice. I adopted one of them which is Flaggie. By the way, the Mom cat and three of the kittens live with my friend and her previous 2 cats and the other kitten was adopted out also. Everyone has been spayed or neutered now.

So Flaggie is a sweet cat and friendly to visitors. My friend still asks about her every time we talk on the phone which is at least once a week. My friend only visits my home rarely because we live an hour apart, but when she does and Flaggie sees her, she spits and hisses as soon as my friend greets her. This happens every time. We are just mystified about this. She must remember my friend because she never spits or hisses at anyone else, and I know my friend was nothing but loving to her and all her cats. It's just really strange.

Is it possible that a cat can be angry about being given away? We just don't get it. And they keep this grudge for years??? Any opinions?

Thanks.

That is really wired? Maybe it smells other cats.
