Mine pretty much only happens at night, where she will lie in wait
just behind the entrance to another room while I walk down the hallway, us
both knowing where the other is.

I swear she just does it to scare the heck outta me because she's
bored of staying home all day.

My cat lies in wait for me, often. She takes a swipe at me and then
quickly
loses interest in me, hits her claw post, scratches the hell out of it,
then
looks right at me, with her tail all bushed up. Intense eye contact
follows.

I consider that one of her more healthy behaviours.

It's cat play, I'd encourage it as long as the cat doesn't draw blood, your
blood! Here it mostly happens in the morning and it's a great way to start
the day. It lets me know she knows I'm here and thinks I'm worthy of her
attention.
