Default Mighty huntress shows mighty annoyance ;-)

In the colder months I replace the floral hanging baskets at the front of the
house with nut feeders for the birds. The cats love sitting on the office
window sill intently watching the birds at the nut feeders only a few inches
away from feline noses, and somehow the birds know the cats can't get at them
from the other side of the windows and seem to take great delight on flocking
to the feeders and giving the avian finger (or should that be feather) at the
cats.

This afternoon Waffles wandered outside and sat on the roof of one of the cars
on the driveway and proceeded to remain motionless whilst staring at the nut
feeders, waiting for a bird to land. Sadly for Waffles, being a bird round here
does not mean said bird is a bird-brain. The birds are not stupid - they can
still see Waffles and no matter how long she sits there they refuse to play and
stay well away from the nut feeders.

So I went outside and collected a severely annoyed & whinging feline from the
roof of the car. She growled at me loudly for having the audacity to bring her
in. As soon as I closed the door so said feline was indoors, birds returned to
the but feeders. Meantime, I get the feline look of death from the Queen Of All
She Surveys and shall be wary of finding steaming hairballs where I really
don't want to find them.

Cheers, helen s

I did this too, Helen. But now I've decided it might not be such a good idea.
Our feeders are in the backyard where the cats can see them. But I hung another
on the north side, right by the window where the cat tree is. Bootsie keeps
lunging at the birds and whacking her self silly on the window pane. I thought
she'd learn in a couple of days, but I've started having doubts.

I have to say the brain cells of my three have worked out they can't get to the
birds when the birds are on the other side of the window, so no hitting of
selves on the window pane at Chateau Simmons :-)
