Default CRF cat and vacation...

So Fatass is doing well, stable and eating, now on 200mg/day of
lactated ringers. We have another vet appt in a few weeks with full
blood work to be done again - but I am concerned about a 1 week
vacation I have coming up over labor day week.

We have friends that stop by every other day to check on her, feed her,
change the litter, etc, but am I going to have to teach them to
administer the fluid??

I know I will have to ask the vet about this, but I wanted to get an
idea from others who have CRF cats...can I pre-load the fluid in the
week leading up to being gone? Can Fats get by with getting the fluid
once or twice that week, or will she go over the ciff without it?

Thanks,

Bluesman

I would talk to your vet. It's hard to say how long she can go without the
fluids, it all depends on her condition and how serious her CRF is. You may
want to ask the vet if any of their techs do petsitting, so you get someone
who is experienced giving sub-q fluids. It freaks out a lot of people who
aren't used to it.

I would check with the vet for a qualified pet sitter to drop buy every
other day to check fluids and such..
Boarding for a week will cost a fortune.
