Well, heer in Ontario it's been -10 to -20 dg.C or colder. Blue, a
delicat liddle laydee (she finks, ennyway) has NO bodyfat and fine
furs, unlike us moore hardy practical CatNadian Cats. She keeps
tryin' to crawl intu meowmie's jammies- WIF hur in dere furst!

& I slid down hur nitegown insted uf thu kivers! She sed it tikkled

Well I knowz about the big freeze. Yesturday morning it wuz -32
deg. F here and the sun wuz shining on the thermometerthingy. A
week ago or ther aboutz, it wuz -38 deg. F. ... an' I liv in da
OUT!!! Well OK my hooman haz mad me a box wif starofome and
blanketz an put it under da werkshop which is surrounded by deep
snow fur insulashun an I spend most uv my tyme der ceptin ta come
out fur fud and chas skwerlz. I am a tuf cat an I know about da
kold and avoyding da nayburz d*g.
Last yeer I got a lame leg an was walkin on da offer three when I
was kot inna trap and Fred took me inside fur 2 or 3 munths, an'
took me tu da TED hoo stuck needles in me and I hispitted and
neerly took Fred's finger off wen he stuch it in my kage. I hid
in da basment da hole thyme an shredded da plastic ovfer da
liffingrum windoes an howled in da night a couople ov thmes so I
excaped or dey let me out in da spring. This winter I's doing
better though I gets reel scared when it's kold and nobody can get
neer me or I run run run under da shop.
Anyway it's supposed to grgadually warm fur a few mor dayz befur
kitten kold again. It wud bee nice iff there wuz sum sun tu wamr
my black fur in. Kan enny kitties think warm thots fur usses who
live in da koold north.

couldn't care less about the health and welfare of the cats born to the
house. Booker came over here limping a couple of days ago, and lets me
take care of him with no complaints, and sleeps and eats the rest of the
time (good appetite, and the wound is healing, so I think he'll be OK).

Hooman note: Jetadiah is scared and he's really a feral cat. I
think I've mentioned before that it took three years of feeding
him and gently approaching him at the door before I ever got to
touch him. Even then the gentlest stroke would make him jump
violently. Now I can usually stroke him when he eats at the door,
but I can only do it through the door. If I look like I'm going
to step outside onto the porch where he is, he's gone in a flash.
I would have brought him inside, but he doesn't like it and he
looses his territory which means when I let him out again he has
to fight for it all over and gets hurt and scratched. So despite
the cold and d*gs and such out there, as long as he's able to get
along and stay healthy, I leave him alone and feed him quality
food and warm milk & a little butter melted in it because he needs
the calories in this cold. His fur is beautiful and must be very
warm, but it has a few mats in it on his back which I believe
comes from where the styrofoam has become exposed in his box,
(blanket must have come loose), and he's been lying against it.
Styrofoam doesn't breath and he must sweat which matts his fur.
Next spring when I can get to it, I'll fix up that box again.
