Default Met a new 'shop cat' today.

I went for a 'Sunday drive' with my elderly (86 years now, and very
frail) Mother.

I met this delightful little cat in the delightful little town called
Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota, USA. Population is a little over 600
people.

It's a very old (for Minnesota, USA) historic small town located on the
Saint Croix River. One of the buildings there was dated 1843, and is
still in use. That's quite old for this part of the world.

Marine on Saint Croix is the site of the first sawmill in what later
became the State of Minnesota, in 1858. An important first.

Much of Minnesota was forested, and the lumber produced at the sawmill
was used throughout the area for farmsteads and other settlers.

This very small cat lives at a restaurant there, and I was told her name
is Momma Kitty. I did not see any kittens, nor did she seem to have
given birth this spring.

At first glance, she looks a bit like a Scottish Fold cat, but alas: it
appears she actually lost her ears, most likely due to frostbite. The
winters are brutal here.

She was a delightful little cat, weighing no more than about 6 lbs.,
(about HALF the weight of my calico cat, Kenzie!) and very, very sweet
and friendly.

She is a slightly dilute calico, with a surprising and beautiful tabby
tail.

She delighted in the scritches and petting I gave her, and she
demonstrated a remarkable 'elevator butt' when I scritched her by the
base of her beautiful tail. She had a very audible purr, too.

She had wonderfully soft fur, and seemed as sad to see me leave, as I
was to go. But I had my camera with me, and took a picture.

She can be seen at:

She looks beautiful. She is muscular and I think she weighs more than
6 lbs. Rusty looks skinnier and weights 8 lb.

Every time I go to town I stop in at the Agway store and visit Aggie.
She is a beautiful, loving cat that likes to be petted.
