Default Good morning sunshine!

At 5 o`clock in the morning I woke up by feeling someone walking
straight over me. The full lenght. Which is unusual insolent even for
a cat.
Half awake and slightly annoyed I put my hand out to feel who this was
-
and endet up in a totally wet fur. Eeeek!
It has been raining over here the whole day and night.
Now fully awake I got some tissues from the bedside table and started
drying
Julius dripping wet fur. He had decided to spend the rest of the night
right
by my side and obviously didn't care about such little things like a
soggy fur.
After drying his fur we both went to sleep.
The moment I put my head down on the pillow again, ready to get more
sleep I
felt someone other climbing up the bed and taking his place to my
other side.
Stretching my hand out to feel who this now was I got the same soggy
wet Eeek! sensation.
Sigh! - Mohrchen as well had decided to take a nice nap in my nicely
warmed bed
after having had a nice walk in the rain. So I toweled another cat and
tried not to swear too loud.
Well, well - we do love them, don`t we? g

Bettina
(having watched the Olympic Marathon until 4 o`clock in the morning.
Isn`t it stupid to watch 2 and a half hours people running?
I got caught up when they just had started their run and just had to
find out
who of the nice ladies would make the first place.)

It's good to see you posting, Bettina. I'm glad you're on call 24/7 to carry

Ah well - thanks Adrian. I have had a lot to do lately.
My niece (9) and nephew (11) visited me a fortnight in Juli
and I had to entertain them the whole day long. So nice kids they are.
But I am not used to be 24/7 on call for humans so it was a bit
exhausting.g
But nevertheless fun for all of us. They want to come back which
should indicate
that it was not boring to be with her old aunt. g

After that I had to care another 10 days for cats, rabbits, chicken
and ducks
of some nice lady here in the village who went for a holiday - so I
spent most
of my days on her premises to give her cats (one is just 6 month old)
the feeling
that somobody is around.
After that I was visited by one of my aunts myself which meant to do
beforehand
a lot of house cleaning and during the visit a lot of sightseeing.

So I thought of updating here but didn`t found the time.

Update - Otto, the redhair, who sort of moved in this spring - never
have seen
such a deep, dark copper tone fur - showed up last week with a huge
abscess on
his right cheek - as I still pay installments for Mohrchens surgery I
couldn`t
take Otto to the vet, so I decided that this one has to be cured at
home.
And after some days the abscess opened and now the wound is healing
nicely.
I am giving "Schüssler salts" which is sort of a homoeopathic
treatment,
and it should work out fine. Is under observation.

So, there is always something to worry about, but most things work out
good.

best regards
Bettina

This used to happen all the time with Nikki. She loved going out in the
rain and then coming inside and drying off in my bed. Then she'd run
back outside, purring all the while, and get thoroughly soaked, then
back into bed. Rainy nights were also very good vole-hunting time...

Yikes - nobody ever brought a dead or living mole or mouse into my
bed.
Wouldn`t flip out over that, cause I`ve lived up to other beings in my
bedroom like
little bats who flew in by accident and didn`t find then the window to
fly out again.
Imagine 8 cats really eager to get that little critter hanging in the
curtains.

But a wet, live mole in the bed would be a new thing to experience.
Poor guys.

Anyway - eveyrone with free roaming cats should have a little towel
handy next to the bedside.g
I learned that.

My Sam doesn't get out in the rain, and we don't have bats in the house,
but he periodically obsesses over moths. He simply can't leave them
alone, and he can't catch them. But he tries anyway, and anything and
everything in the way goes flying!

Yes - moths - obviously created to entertain cats.
Mine love to chase them. And of course butterflies.

Caliban chases moths, crane flies and flies. He doesn't care what gets
in his way, either. And since he thinks he's still a small kitten, he
apparently thinks he can fit into much smaller spaces than he actually
can, so everything goes flying when he's chasing a bug.

Call me silly, but I love the smell of a wet cat.
The smell of a wet d*g is another story.

To be honest - I like this wet fur smell too.
And all the other smells my cats bring in from outside.
Especially Zorrolina's fur - she smells like green grass when she
comes home.
Sometimes I can even determine where someone has slept the hours
before
when he/she comes in smelling dusty (-has been in the shed) or like
hay.
Wonderful to put my nose deep into the fur.

Bettina
