OT Only in Finland...
.... can the husband of the President of the Republic come causually
strolling towards me in the street and ask me for money. And not a security guard in sight! Hehehe. The Red Cross has a collection campaign going on and it seems he was one of the volunteers. I was on my way to my physiotherapist. The embarrassing thing was I don't carry any cash, so I couldn't put anything in his collection cup. The funny thing was, it's by no means a posh part of town, and it's quite common to see various types of panhandlers and beggars around those streets. It occurred to me I can tell everyone I saw him begging in the streets around there. :P -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |

Yeah, me too. BTW Marina, I saw a glowing travel news write-up from local couple here who paid through the nose for the Scandinavian Celebrity cruse two week deal. It was all about what a great time they had and how friendly and helpful the natives are in Helsinki. Not a bad word in it They also took beautiful photos of some old church in a city starting with a "T" in Estonia, where Alex II was si[[psed;u assassinated way way back at that church. But.....all they had to say about that place (at least I know a little about Estonia, having known a woman in Miami long ago from there) was complaints about the multitude of pickpockets preying on the turistas from the chip, LOL. Helsinki won the cruse ship passenger poll. If it wasn't the capital, Tallinn (where Caliban was born, BTW), maybe Tartu. Mum was robbed in Tallinn once. I haven't visited Estonia, though both my cats have Estonian roots (Mir's dad lived in Tallinn, where Kira stayed with him for a week or so to be impregnated). -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. I am having trouble picturing either Caliban nor especially Mir as muggers or having a bad attitude toward Russians, as most of the older residents of those three countries do, which is understandable. LOL. Give both the Estonians a kiss and ear skritch for me. If you had anything edible in your pocket, I'm sure Caliban would be happy to pick it. Not Miranda, and she can hardly have a bad attitude towards Russians, seeing as she's a Russian Blue herself. :P -- Marina, Miranda and Caliban. In loving memory of Frank and Nikki. |
