I was paying $22 a month for Earthlink. I was also paying $12 for a
phone line I only used for internet access. Cable cost me $34 and I got a
free modem. So it didn't cost any more. My upstairs neighbor has had it
for awhile and he has never had a problem and has good speed on it. Just
made sense to do it. It was really easy to install, damned easy
considering I had never done it before and with a Mac you never really
know what kind of support your going to get from a company. But I put
they're cd in and it set the whole thing up even Hogwasher, my
newsreader. Now that really shocked me, something that supports
Hogwasher.

Yeah, John, you'll like the speed.....and those times of being "dumped" by
your dialup ISP for "hanging" too long for any reason are so OVER.......

Congratulations, John. You'll never look back. I've been on RoadRunner

for
going on two years and it still astounds me. The other night I was doing

a
batch download of some pictures off of Usenet (no, not porn!) and sailed
thru them at the rate of 10 Megabytes in less than half a minute! (The
newsreader told me the avg speed was 360 kb/sec).

Well, congratulations. Another one leaving me in the dust. I'm afraid I'm going
to be the last surviving internet user on dial-up. This one-horse town doesnt,
and will never, even have a local access number!!! (forget cable!)

LOL, I'll be after you, Sherry. We looked into cable, but my computer
was made in 1998, and doesn't have enough hard drive or memory to
support a cable hook up. I really wanna new one, but it's not on the
cards for a while. I'm hoping that, if I can get funding for College,
I'll be able to get a new computer so that I can take internet courses.
Of course this one will go to either Rob or the kids, as his 'puter is
even older than mine, and is falling apart.

Pam S. loving her old dinosaur, but wanting speed and memory
