Default OT - Christmas Wishes

I know we've had more than our share of heartbreak here lately, and I don't
want to be dismissive or callous, but I thought we could lighten the load a
little (especially for those, and there are quite a few here, who battle
with seasonal depression). If you think it more appropriate, we could
shelve this thread until after Halloween and the reading of names.

I just know I would greatly welcome something to take my mind *off* of
reality.

If you could have three wishes for this Christmas, what would they be? One
stipulation - let's rule out winning the lottery, or having weight
miraculous disappear, or having the world be at peace. If we keep it
confined to feasible (as in you could possibly have it, just don't have it
or can't afford it right now). I think it would be much more interesting and
fun that way and force us to be creative.

My wishes:

1: I wish my daughter and her family would come to visit me for a whole
week (at *any* time).

2: I wish DH were offered a good job.

3: I wish I could learn how *not* to worry about every possible future.

Actually, I think "wishing" could be depressing, too. However, I'll play.

I wish my sister would get the help she needs to be free from her
depression.
I wish my mother would consent to knee surgery so I don't have to worry
about her falling.
I wish my son and my dad were back with us.

I wish I had my surgery over and done with.
I wish both my kids could find a life partner who would give them
unconditinal love, support, and respect them for the wonderful human
beings they are.
I wish DH could stop working so much.

I wish my brother didn't have liver cancer.
We are hoping he makes it to Christmas

I wish my Mother's health was better.
She has so MANY health problems.

I wish I could get a really good job, so I could get 3 or 4 adult rescue
cats.

in pain every hour of every day.

2. I wish I could stop obsessing about all the stupid things I've done in
my life, and focus on the many good ones.

3. I wish I could have dozens of kitties!

OK, obviously this was a really bad idea, so please let's just act like it
was never posted. I'm so sorry to have brought back so many bad feelings -
leave it to me to stick my foot in it!

My three "real" wishes:

!: I wish I had just 15 minutes of pain-free existences before I die so
that I could remember what living used to be.

2: I wish my daughter would forgive me whatever it was I did to her to
cause her to stop talking or communicating with me.

3: I wish I could quit worrying about where and how we will live - and more
importantly to me where our cats will live - when we're finally evicted from
out home.

If it's any small comfort - if things do get that bad and a refinance
won't help, keep in mind that most of the time you can go almost 18
months without paying your mortgage before the repo on your house
begins...

Damnit you've just ruled out my main wish and that would be to win the
lottery (even through I only rarely do it) I wouldn't want a massive
win just enough to be comfortable myself and to be able to help more
people than I can now- I've got too many friends on this list and
offline who are suffering financially at the moment, I am not talking
about setting them up for life but take a friend who lost his job last
November and hasn't seen more than a couple of weeks work and has
about 10K's worth of debt and is being chased for the money- wouldn't
it be great to say "Don't worry it's covered" and my local shelter
wants to buy a bigger place so they can take in more cats...

But okay doable wishes

1. Dave to sort his bank out- he's been trying to transfer money from
his esavings account to his current account since July! They keep
sending him pass numbers that are unreadable so when he tries to guess
at it he gets it wrong 3 times and they lock his account down and he
has to call a number which takes ages to get through to and costs a
fortune to get another number, which is just as bad, He even took one
into the bank and said "Can you read this?" and they agreed they
couldn't and he was far from the first person to ask them that
question but as it's an online account they can't help him. The last
time he called he got some snotty person in the call centre who asked
him to prove who he was by mentioning some of his standing orders and
when he mentioned his ISP and his Fortean Times subscription said they
didn't count then he asked me when the standing order I pay for the
bills goes in and she said if he talked to another person she would
have to terminate the conversation and did. The interest he made
suggests he's getting 0.001% but he's paying £7-8 a month in overdraft
interest so no wonder they have no vested interest in sorting it out

2. To keep my job- things are getting very hairy in the NHS but I
should be okay (fingers crossed)- I am still looking for that
promotion but haven';t seen a single decent promotion for months now
that wasn't "fixed term temporary" and I won't chuck my job to spend a
year doing something else then find there's nothing out there when
that finishes

3. For my owners to stay healthy throughout 2011 and for me to as well
(and Dave but they're the owners and I'm the breadwinner so that's the
order of things)

Thank you Sophie. I'm just worried, now that *SO* many people are
defaulting on their homes, that mortgage companies have gotten more
streamlined in their repossession processes. It used to be that you could
demand to see the original paperwork and, since contracts are so often sold
and resold, the actual paperwork gets lost - but again, that's something
that lenders have caught onto and have fixed that. But, hopefully there
will still be a waiting period before they actually demand that we leave.
It would hurt to lose the house, but DH and I would be OK - the problem
would be in finding a rental that would allow us to keep all five cats.

==================

LOL! That's the order in our house as well, but I've already blown that.

My doctor wrote a special letter to MetLife saying that I could not possibly
go back to work before the end of the year (I'm sill only 94 pounds and
would be burning muscle mass if I tried and would probably bring on another
heart attack) - and it would be iffy even then. However, MetLife still
hasn't approved of an extension beyond today. I can't go to work anyway
because they would want a note from my doctor saying that I'm fit to go back
to work and well...

Such is life!
