How is the weather today? I had a dream last night that a huge hurricane
was coming, and I and several people were getting ourselves ready for it by loading up on things you can use without the benefit of electricity. I think your post from yesterday must have inspired this dream! Joyce Rainy but no wind yet. Even the dog is inside today, and yes, I do have extra fresh water and such stored in case I need it. I have a gas stove so cooking will not be a problem even if the electricity goes off. I think my house (and Japanese houses in general) are not as dependent on electricity as American houses, and we always have emergency candles and flashlights ready because of the possibility of earthquakes. I just woudn't be able to use the computer! However, it's very unusual to lose electricity even during a typhoon. Our main problem is getting places since most people use public transportation, and even if you drive, you have to park so far from wherever you're going that you can get hit with flying objects. Most so-called "typhoon injuries" in this area happen when branches, signboards or roofs fly off unexpectedly. In the mountains (we aren't) you have to worry about mudslides as well. So, now I have to go to church (playing the organ, which of course runs on electricity!) and am debating whether to ride the bus or drive the car, as the church has no parking lot and I'd have to walk just as far from the nearest parking area as I would to and from the bus stop. Thanks for your purrs, and please keep it up. Cantate |

Typhoon went away. It was very wet, but not too much wind in my
area. The people on Okinawa and Kyushu got hit hard, though. Cats happy. Dog happy. Everybody happy. Thanks for purrs! Cantate |

Thanks for purrs! I was on Mt. Fuji in a typhoon in August 1997. There was some kind of festival going on with "techno" bands playing 24 hours a day on three or four different stages. There were young people laying around all over the place, stoned out of their minds, wearing bell-bottom trousers and tie-dye t-shirts and beaded headbands. At times you couldn't see 5' in front of you but this thing just carried on. I was flabbergasted. |
