OT - Annie (d-pet) has learned a new trick!
Annie has learned to “shake” – or as we call it “paw”!
She doesn’t really respond to the word as much as she does the action of either Jeff or I holding out our right hand, palm up, in front of us, with a treat in our left. She learned this after 3 tries that I did NOT have the treat in my right hand! I first would take her paw in my right hand (after she sniffed it to make ABSOLUTELY sure there was no treat being offered), and say the word, and then give her the treat with my left. Then I started offering her my hand and saying the word, and – BOOM – she would raise her left paw and put it in my hand – then I gave her the treat. A couple times she gets so excited over the treat, she’s tried to give me a ‘high five’ instead! Now, sometimes, even if I don’t extend my right hand, she raises her paw in anticipation of getting a treat! And she learned when we spell “out” that it means the same as when we say it – now I’ve been spelling it backwards (tuo), and wondering how long it it will be before she figures THAT meaning! -- ^..^ This is Kitty. Isn't it scary how smart d*gs can be? Especially with the right "motivation"? ; I don't own a d*g, and probably won't until I can retire and have the time to properly train and care for one. But I still watch every episode of "It's Me Or The D*g" on Animal Planet - Victoria Stillwell is AMAZING! Forget the "D*g Whisperer", she can get d*gs to obey her the first time she meets them, with her body language alone! And I like the fact that she doesn't use the "domination" method - she uses the d*g's instincts and pack behavior to get them to do what she wants. I definitely recommend watching it to anyone who is training a d*g! Hugs, CatNipped -- ^..^ This is Kitty.
