We took her inside, but the existing queen of the roost (Nimbus, the

Does Nimbus accept her now?

They talk to each other across the divide between our houses, but Nimbus
hasn't been real happy when I brought Harley over in her carrier in the
distant past. And Harley is very intolerant of intruders. If my mom visits,
Harley turns into a hissing growling beast (to me, not just the intruder)
and hides until well after the visitor has left.

I didn't know that - makes sense. I always wondered why newborn
kittens needed help with pooping. Human babies don't seem to have that
problem.

I think it's the gender role difference between felines and simians. With
felines, it's the female that hunts, while with us simians, mama stays home
while the male hunts, so there's always a guardian for the young. (Just a
WAG, mind you.)

She loves to climb up the storage shelving, or the wire shelves in the
kitchen bay window. I put a spare cutting board on the top wire shelf so
she can sit up there and sun and watch the outdoor cats. (She's an indoor-
only baby.) I think of her as my little monkey. She's amazingly prehensile.

My gun cabinet is the tallest piece of furniture in my bedroom, so she
loves to lay on that. I heard a strange noise one day, went in to see her
rolling about on top of it, and got a few quick snaps with my phone camera.

I find the hardest part of getting photos is getting her to appear candid.
She can hear the focus mechanism and turns to look when I try to snap a
shot. (I hate "staged" family photos and "portraits". I much prefer to
catch pictures of people being themselves. I want a historical record, not
a royal painting.)
