Default Buffy is Feeling Better (5/13/2021)

For palliative care the vet has me adding adding a drop of liquid
prednisone (a steroid, chicken flavoured, from a compounding pharmacy)
to her wet food.

When I got home from work yesterday she'd eaten all the gooshy food and
all the dry kibble! I gave her more of the dry food and she snacked on
that. Good girl!

This morning I dished up more fresh kibble then went to the kitchen to
dish up some canned food and add the drop of prednisone. When I got
back to the bedroom she was sitting at her placemat meowing at me. Hey,
hurry up with that wet food!

I did my usual morning routine getting ready for work. She curled up on
the bed and watched me. I gave her a kiss on the top of her head, told
her I love her and left. When I got home this evening, again she'd
eaten all of both kinds of food. I gave her more of the dry kibble and
she ate all that, too! So I put more in her bowl.

The weather turned nicely cool overnight so when I got home I opened
some windows. After her snack Buffy sat on the pet steps by the dining
room window and looked outside for a bit. Then she got up on my lap and
snuggled and purred for a bit.

Now she's back to snoozing on the bed. I will make sure she doesn't run
out of dry food. She's obviously much more comfortable eating it now
and she's gaining back some more of the weight she lost. I'm thrilled
her appetite is back. She's also drinking plenty of water and her
litterbox output is more like normal.

She's definitely feeling better, even if she's doesn't feel like running
around playing.

Wow! That's fantastic news! She's really coming along well. She was so
poorly last week. I'll copy this to your friends on FB. The purrs seem to
be working. Maybe she'll feel more like playing soon too.

Judith

I hope so. The problem with her jaw remains but the steroids seem to be
controlling the inflammation and as such, the discomfort. Unfortunately
I don't have the means to take her to the far-away specialist for a
biopsy.
