Holly's 13th annifursary

Tomorrow (Nov. 24) is the 13th annifursary of the day I adopted Holly. She
is very special - my little shadow, my loving companion, and Duffy's "big
sister" for the last 4½ years. Her name when I adopted her had been Jinx,
so-named because she is solid black and therefore supposedly "bad luck."
Well, she is GOOD luck and deserved a much better name than that. So, she
became Holly. Her name is a shortened version of "Holiday Cat" because I
adopted her between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays (immediately
after Thanksgiving in 1995). She is gorgeous, wonderful, and greatly loved.

Yes, I adopted Duffy on Jan. 31, 2003. Ooops! I guess that means it was 5
1/2 years ago, so I need to add a year. "Time flies," as they say. Duffy
was estimated to be between 3 and 5 years old when I adopted him and
probably closer to 5. So, I think he is about 10 years old now. He had
been previously adopted and then returned to a *kill* shelter after 2 years.
I simply do not understand how someone could do that to such a wonderful
little guy, but that was my good fortune. He had been in the shelter for
several months before I saw a listing for him on petfinder.com, so I am
extremely grateful to the shelter staff who kept him for such a long time
while they searched for a home for him.
