Being in charge of the weather...
Nikki sits out on the balcony and looks expectantly at me. "Come on, Mum,
bring the sun back!" She comes in for a cuddle then goes back out on the balcony. She chirrups to me. My heart is breaking. ;o) What will she do when the snow comes? Poor girl, she will lose all faith in her Meowmie. I can sympathize. When the weather turns rainy here (it doesn't happen often, but happen it does) Amelia will sit in the kitchen looking out the back door at the wetness, then will turn and stre at me saying "Come on, paw, make it stop". After an hour or so of unresponsiveness on my part, she'll go out back anyway, sit next to the back fence, and glare at me. There's nothing like the glare of a soaking wet cat who blames you for not making the nasty rain stop. Dan |

I'm so sorry to hear Nikki is unhappy with the current weather conditions.
It is also hard for you, Marina. Best wishes for the sun to come out again, -- Polonca & Soncek "Marina" wrote in message ... ... is a tough job, but someone's got to do it. snip |

Some of you may remember that we had a couple of chilly nights a while ago, and Nikki unexpectedly wanted to cuddle in my lap. Well, her cuddles were rewarded; her Meowmie brought the sun back and made the weather warm again for a few days. However, now we have had a few grey and cool days, and the nights are getting downright chilly. Nikki sits out on the balcony and looks expectantly at me. "Come on, Mum, bring the sun back!" Especially when she takes a nap on the sofa and we can both curl up on her together. Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Emily & Pea |

Poor girl, she will lose all faith in her Meowmie. -- Marina, weather goddess - not One should really be careful about promising good weather. Certainly I have enough trouble with my two cats, when they want out on the balcony and it is windy (both hate wind). I open the door, they get a blast of wind and run back in and I close the door. Within five minutes later one or both will be after me to open the door onto a calm balcony. Doesn't work of course but that doesn't stop them for doing this until I can't stand it anymore and refuse to respond. If they were looking reprovingly at me because of the wind they really get upset about me not continuing to open the door to check if the balcony weather has changed. Larry Osborne |

But I wonder why cats think that we control everything? In wild, do cats ask higher ranking cats to influence the weather? Do cats have shamanistic cultures? Is it because they watch us do things like turn on lightbulbs and faucets? I sometimes think that Betty is a non-believer. She doesn't even ask me for help when her food bowl is running low. She mostly asks for lap time. |

"Norm" wrote Generally mine felines have been, well, forgiving wrt weather (but in Tampa until 1996 only Max was an indoor cat). But Beast, a summer or two ago up here, insisted there be a weather change from front to back - in bad weather he'd insist on the front door being opened for him, go out in it regardless and come back in the catdoor and complain to be let out front again. Mercifully he eventually accepted the weather and just went out in it, rain, sleet 12" of snow, whatever. Of course he then insists on sharing his accumulated wetness. Norm That's what Nikki does out on the island, too. If it is raining, she rushes outside, gets herself all wet, comes in and dries herself off on me (preferably in the middle of the night), then rushes back out, gets all wet, inside again and so on, purring her little head off all the time. Seems that here in town she becomes a much more fastidious lady. -- Marina |

Purrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I like cuddling up between Meowmie's ankles. This is how I spend every evening (don't know why Meowmie wants to waste her time staring at that stupid box, but at least it gives me the perfect snuggle spot). http://tinyurl.com/n7hq Purrs, Nikki |

It rains and it's cloudy quite a lot, but it is still about 15 to 20 degrees
Centigrade. It gets cold at night, so Soncek jumps on my bed and lies down by my legs to keep warm. He never does that otherwise. We had a very hot summer this year, with lots of days over 35 degrees Centigrade (100-year record in heat was beaten), so Soncek slept a lot. Twice this summer he scared me by not eating. I hand-fed him so that way he at least ate some of his food. He is ok now. Soncek thanks you for asking about him, Marina, and says hi to Frank and Nikki. Best wishes and hopes your neck and shoulders stop hurting, -- Polonca & Soncek "Marina" wrote in message ... snip Is it still summer over there? Does Soncek react to different seasons and weather? -- Marina |

Takayuki had some very interesting things to
say about Being in charge of the weather...: "Marina" wrote: Nikki sits out on the balcony and looks expectantly at me. "Come on, Mum, bring the sun back!" She doesn't even ask me for help when her food bowl is running low. She mostly asks for lap time. Felix *definitely* blames us for the weather. On the fairly rare occasions it's raining, he stands at the door and gives me the "FIX this, Mom!" glare. I keep telling him weather is Dad's department, but I don't think he believes me. :-) He'll come get me and lead me to a dish that requires attention [such as if even a tiny bit of blue plastic is showing through the kibble], and even once chewed me out for letting the hummingbird feeder get empty. -- Seanette Blaylock "You attribute perfect rationality to the whole of humanity, which has to be one of the most misguided assumptions ever." - Alan Krueger in NANAE [make obvious correction to address to send e-mail] |
