This is only partially OT.

My Afternoon homecare has been a bit "unpredictable". I've had the
same PCA for that slot since Sept '06 when Joanne was injured. Due to
financial issues she didn't get her car inspected in time so she
didn't dare drive from NH border to W Mass. where I live. The person
in charge decided to replace her. They found a woman who lives in T. I
was told she was cat friendly.

Sherry the sceduler came out with her so that we could train her.
Sherry and I warned her that Spicey is my Guard cat and takes a while
to accept new aides. Well the next day she walks almost on top and
Spicey removes some of her skin. Next day same thing. She said Spicey
must be declawed. Which I objected to and explained why. She was
adamite (spelling fart here). Then it was suggest I crate her. Tak,
Joyce, and Charleen know this isn't possible. Part of why Spicey was
on edge with her because I kept having to re-explain how to do things.
I was as patient as possible but I know Spicey picked up on what I was
feeling.

Today thanks to Sherry and Cindy resolving her inspection issues I
found out Cindy will be back Weds. Which is great because Cindy is
Spicey's GBP (Great Bestower of Peparoni.).

UGH! I don't think I could have stood having her around much longer if I
were you. Thank goodness you got Cindy back again. Purrs that all her car
troubles stay fixed for a while! ;

How dare she suggest declawing, I would have hit the roof. I'm so glad it's
sorted now and you're getting someone Spicey approves of.

She suggested declawing, you should have suggested she remove six inches of
her nose, that should keep it out of your business.

Since most people who suggest declawing don't really know what it
entails, I usually just ask how they'd like having the first joints of
their fingers amputated! (I've had a vet tech explain to me that it's
not QUITE the same thing, but IMO it's close enough.)

I'm very glad you got things sorted out and that evil woman insisting Spicey
be declawed is very nervy IMO.

Wow, glad that is resolved favorably. I can't imagine someone having the
nerve, among other things, to ask that your cat be declawed. Really!!!
I'll be there the last week in October. Will call and we can visit, maybe
take in dinner. What does Spicy like?

Besides being upsetting it showed how little she knew and understood
cats. I explained to her that declawing was removing more then the
claw, but she still thought it was a good idea. Margi one of my
overnight aides is a Vet Tech, she said that most Vets will no longer
declaw.

Yikes, Suz, did you type that whole post out key by key? Or have you
gotten some voice-recognition software for your PC?

When I visited you, I remember you put Spicey in your bedroom because
she seemed quite upset by my presence. Could you have done that? I guess
it's moot now, since you're getting Cindy back, but if this ever comes
up in the future, maybe you could do that?

Can't believe this woman felt entitled to tell you you had to declaw
your cat.
