"catsruleok" wrote in message ... Hi all, Today, I received from Webshots, an email telling me that they had removed one of my pics of Thalia because by posting it, I *had* infringed copyright law I should be honoured that someone thinks one of my photos good enough to want to claim as their own work but I'm not. I'm absolutely furious. And if they're selling that photo, I'll be more than that. snip Many thanks for reading. Love to you all. Sheenah. Dear friends, Thank you very much for all your marvellous messages of support. I truly appreciated each and every one of them. I am happy to tell you that this morning I have received an e:mail from Webshots containing an apology. The lady who wrote explained that after carrying out investigations, they have discovered that a mistake had been made by one their staff. As you can inagine, I'm greatly relieved not to have to pursue this matter further. Thank you once again for your support. Love Sheenah |

Geez, Sheenah, that really sucks! You take your pictures with a digital
camera, right? If not, then you have the negative to prove it. Otherwise, you could send them the original large version straight off the camera, if you still have it. If not, try sending them many pictures of Thalia, and maybe some of you holding her. This is really ridiculous, I can't believe they are doing this. I would demand an apology and maybe some kind of compensation like a free year of their premier service, or free prints of all your pic's or something. -- Britta Check out pictures of Vino at: http://photos.yahoo.com/badwilson click on Vino and "friends" album "catsruleok" wrote in message ... Hi all, I'm writing this while feeling very angry . The reason why will soon become clear. As you know, I'm very keen on photographing my cats and have posted many of their pics on the Internet. One site I use is Webshots. I know that when I post there I can only post photos that I have taken. If I did otherwise, I would infringe American copyright law and if Webshots found out about it, they would remove any pic that was not mine. Today, I received from Webshots, an email telling me that they had removed one of my pics of Thalia because by posting it, I *had* infringed copyright law I should be honoured that someone thinks one of my photos good enough to want to claim as their own work but I'm not. I'm absolutely furious. And if they're selling that photo, I'll be more than that. Whatsmore, Webshots have told me that if I breach copyright law *again*, they'll consider removing all my albums from their site Webshots has told me that I can try to prove to them my innocence. I hope that all the info I can send them will be enough to satisfy them. If it does, I hope they'll secure on my behalf redress from the person (I really want to say b*** **d) who has told them that my pic is theirs.. If Webshots aren't willing to do this, I don't know what, if anything I can do. Should this situation arise, would any one of you be able and willing to offer me advice on what , if anything, I can do. Many thanks for reading. Love to you all. Sheenah. |

Presuming you took pictures of your own cat, you should be able to show them other photos of the same cat, no? Particularly other photos in the same setting....to show you own cat, and setting. The fact that they are your photos should be clear then. This sounds like good advice to me. That's what I'd do - take more pics of the same cat in the same setting. Heck, I'd even invite them over to meet the cat in question, as long as they'd pay their own airfare... -- * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Christine in Vantaa, Finland (Europe) Email: christal63(at)yahoo(dot)com Photos: http://photos.yahoo.com/christal63 |
