LOL Good story! At least she learned her lesson well. The only refrigerator story I have is when I closed Ginger's tail in the door. I wasn't aware he was near and just closed the door and turned. Then I hears "scrabbeling" and turned to see this big ginger tom with all four feet in the hair hissing AND SCREAMING. He was very affectionate when I let him loose. MLB |

Wow, that's something I'm really gonna have to watch for. Every time I open
the fridge my Brio appears outta nowhere, leaps in and lies down. I have trouble getting her to come out. "m. L. Briggs" wrote in message ... I had a foster that did that. I closed the door and waited about 5 minutes.
when I opened it he meowed at me loudly, but never went in again. -- Joe http://www.jwpitt.com/cats.htm Cat Rescue http://www.animalrescuefoundation.com God created the cat so man could have the pleasure of petting the tiger "Kim" wrote in message able.rogers.com... Very entertaining story. Thanks for sharing....Kathy
"Semi-Detached" wrote in message ... It was the summer of 1991. A friend of my sisters gave her a kitten. She was only 34 days old. My sister spent most of her time out partying, and I spent most of my time at home alone so me and the cat became very good friends. That summer I was on a full night schedule. Wake up at sunset, go bed sometime in the morning and sleep the entire day. I would spend a lot fo time during the midnight hour reading horror novels, watching Nick At Night, listening to heavy metal tapes with a neighbor kid or just playing and conversing with the cat. She was white and gray with spots of orange along her back. Almost but not quite calico. She was very cute and very playful. She would dig her claws into my jeans and attempt to climb up my leg, staring at me intently. Her sole interest was trying to make it to the top so she could quickly touch noses with me. I would have to gently pull her claws and hold her to my face before putting her down. I guess it was her way of trying to acquiant herself with us and determine if we were the right family for her. It was very hot in our small, stuffy apartment. There was no air conditioning and the walls would trap the heat within and it would be much hotter inside than outside. With her thick coat, it was undoubtedly much for uncomfortable for the cat than humans who could keep stripping the layers off. Every time I would open the refrigerator, she would go running inside and settle on the bottom shelf. She would fight whoever tried to drag her out. Soon I grew tired of pulling her out at the expense of a little blood so I would just close the door. Open it a few minutes later and she would casually stroll out, having been sufficiently cooled from the summer onslaught. It was becoming quite annoying because it was dangerous the let the cat in the refrigerator and dangerous to even try to get her out. One night, my mom was working the graveyard shift and my sister was out and about. The next door neighbor came over and we listened to tapes and watched episodes of Headbanger's Ball I had taped off MTV. I got something out of the refrigerator and the cat ran in. I made half hearted attempt to coax her out before closing the door. My friend had been to Knotts Berry Farm that day. He couldn't stop talking about these 2 girls he met there. As he described them, I realized they sounded very familiar. Like my Orange County girlfriend I had just broken up with and her best friend. She went to Knotts Berry Farm often. I told my friend her name. "Yeah that was her, how did you know?" I even dug out picture and confirmed it. What a small world. Later on at a more decent hour and in the pre caller ID days I dialed her up and put my friend on the phone. "Hey whats up? Its me from Knotts Berry Farm" "How did you get my number?" "You gave it to me?" "No I didn't." This exchange repeated itself several times over the next few minutes before she finally hung up on him. We laughed our asses off over that one. Anyway this night we watched Megadeth and Anthrax videos while talking about the heavy metal concerts I had been to all summer. 1991 was definitely the year of metal. Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden were just some of the concerts I attended that year. After a while, I started to miss my cat. Where is she? I started looking all over the apartment for her. I looked under the bed, under the couch, behind the couch, in the closet, under my mom's bed. Did she get outside somehow? "Dude, where's my cat?" "I think she is still in the refrigerator." "OH ****." That was hours ago. In a total panic, I run in the kitchen and open the refrigerator door in horror expecting to find a popsicled catdaver. She bursts out, meowing in a shrill voice I had never heard from her before or since. She started rubbing against my leg and I could feel the chill even through my jeans. She wasn't being affection, only trying to warm herself up. She also rolled around the kitchen floor and and even stretched herself out against the stove. She kept meowing before finally settling into a basket of towels and drifting off to sleeo. I know it was very irresponsible to allow my cat into the refrigerator and then just forget about her. And in no way has my short term memory improved in the years since. However, in the 12 years since, my cat has never gone into a refrigerator again. |
