Spay Day USA - Letter to editor.

Below is a copy of a letter that I sent to the "Letters to The
Editors" of our local paper, The Saginaw News. I thought I would post
it here with the chance that it may do some good and spur someone /
anyone to do a little more for our four legged freinds.



To The Editor:

The 13th annual Spay Day USA took place on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 and
Michigan was reported second with 1455 spays / neuters behind the
first place state of California which reported 1593. The numbers may
look good but there are still numerous pets as well as strays that
need to be taken care of.

I would like to encourage all pet owners that have not had their pets
taken care of to do so especially if they are allowed access to the
outdoors. I would also like to encourage animal lovers to care for
strays that they may come across by having them spayed / neutered if
they can and if not try to take them to the local shelter so that they
might have a chance at finding a good home and being taken care of.

I know many pet owners that think their responsibility ends with their
pets. They could walk right by a stray that is starving and not give
it a second look or back right over an animal if it was in their drive
saying "Oh it will move" instead of making sure it moved. I have seen
people try to hit animals of any kind that happen to be in the roads
as well as kids throwing things at animals that are just minding their
own business.

We are all God's creations. Lets act like it and not leave it up to
the few soft hearted idiots that try to look after these homeless
animals just to have people complain about us spending money and time
on them when it could be put to better use!!!
