Default Jellicle Ball

I know that some folks here are active in RPCC. And some folks are quite
antagonistic towards RPCC. However, the one thing I really really like about
RPCC is their 'Jellicle Ball' (I assume 'Jellicle' is a mewochat
pronunciation of 'Angelical'), where kitties that have gone ahead without us
are listed, honoured and remembered.

RPCA used to do the same thing.

I am thinking - and I would like RPCC poster's thoughts as well - whether
RPCA & RPCC could do the Jellicle Ball together, ie, crosspost that thread
(and no other). After all, its about kitties that have been very much loved
and are very much missed. Somethign that RPCC and RPCA surely have in
common.

Anyway, just a thought.

If folks think its a good idea here, then we'll have to approach RPCC and
get their approval too.

If it doesn't work out, there's nothing stopping us having our own (and if
some cats are on both lists, thats OK too)

I don't remember the rpca Jellicle Ball. That must have been before I
was reading the group.
But I say, if it's something enough people would enjoy, go for it. I
probably won't participate, because meowchat seems a chore for me to
decipher.
And the writer/proofreader part of my brain will not allow me to write
in Meowchat. :-)
Even so, it might be nice to see more cat-talk, as it seems to be
the minority of postings lately. I used to really dig Pam's voyage
adventures.
P.S. The Jellicle Ball is from the musical CATS. Or originally, I
guess
from T.S. Elliot. Jellicle Cats are the type of cats in the musical,
thus
the name "Jellicle Ball. The story goes that T.S. Elliot's neice
coined
the term "Jellicle Cats" when she was trying to say "Dear Little
Cat.""

I have no problem with the idea of combining it.

I have no antagonism toward RPCC, but I find meowchat difficult and very
slow-going to read. I have to sound out each word like a first-grader.
Maybe folks would be willing to go a little lighter on the meowchat, mix
in a higher percentage of standard English so those of us who are slow on
the uptake can participate?

I thought that Jellicle Cats was something from the musical, Cats, and
therefore was coined by TS Eliot. I haven't read the work nor have I
seen the musical, but I think someone posted about that here a few years
ago.

I lurk on RPCC, and post very occasionally, but I have a very hard time
reading meowchat, much less writing it.

I can't even count how many times I've been unable to understand part or
all of a post

I do enjoy what I can understand, though

I have followed quite a few Jellicle Balls, without ever understanding
what 'Jellical' meant!

I do like the idea of paying homage and respect to out RB kitties.

I would like to participate...if it's OK if I write in 'peoplechat':
it's all I can manage, I'm sorry to say.

You may well be right.

I can't remember what we used to call it here, many years ago. But we
did put the name of the cat, and the name of the 'house' that the cat
belonged to. And if we didn't know the name of the house the cat
belonged to, or if they had no house, it would be 'House of Bast.'

Is here any regular of RPCC here that could comment? I don't want to go
to RPCC (since I'm not a member there) and brooch the subject without
having a vague idea of how it will be received.

All that being said, you can post on rpcc about your cat, pet, and not use
meowchat. You can post and ask for your cats name to be added to the list.

If I remember correctly, "Jellicle *is* the correct name - it's taken from
the musical "Cats" and I would *LOVE* to have one, I think it would be
purrrrr-fect! I certainly have some kitties I'd love to have a remembrance
of.
