Default Four months for Sherry

Sherry's last post to the group was on 2/24. I wonder where she has gone?

I have been wondering as well. I know she has had some difficult health
issues herself which she was overcoming as well as nursing a terminally ill
husband who died around this time.
It's hard to know what to do, isn't it? She may have chosen to hide away
for a while, as people who are in grief often do, and need to.
On the other hand..maybe not. If anyone knows her private mail address, a
little hello how are you might be well received.

I never know myself whether or how to invade another's privacy in cases such
as this.
I had an idea since I read Pat's post, what do you all think about it?
A lot of you have families, and live with someone else. If you are in any
kind of trouble, they can get help for you, but they may not all know about
your rpca life ;-) and maybe ought to be instructed how to contact someone
to alert us to what is happening.
There are others who live alone, many of us actually. Some have no close
family. RPCA *is* our family.
When Pat got that thump on the head from a bathtub, for example. Who was to
know whether she was alive or not?

Okay, so this is my idea. See what you think of it. It would be an opt
in/opt out thing for members who live alone going something like this:
For very regular posters who live alone: If you do not hear from me in two
days, e-mail me and if no response ring my relative.. phone no...etc.
e-mail..etc.
Irregular posters may have to make their own arrangements.

Most members who live alone will not need this, but a fair number of us
might if we think no-one might miss us for a few days.
Shall we think about this among ourselves? Set up some sort of alert system
with relatives phone numbers after a certain time? It wouldn't matter if it
was a false alarm, after all. It would only matter if not :-(

It would need a lot of talking about, and tweaking, but myself, I think it's
a good idea.

Am I right in thinking it's Sherry Riddles you're talking about? It is
worrying when people disappear but real life does get in the way.

I didn't hear anything about a dying husband. I met them last summer, and he
seemed the picture of good health. Did I miss something?

I've been in contact with her off-list but not since April. Still quite a
while. It just seemed like a long time to be in lurking mode on the NG.
