I passed this big doggie on a morning walk a couple of days ago, and was
struck by his wrinkly, velvety face. Then promptly forgot about him.

Yesterday, I was walking by, deep in thought, and suddenly, there was the
same friendly face and wagging tail again. I said to myself "You have got
to take the camera out tomorrow, and get his picture."

So I took the camera out this morning, and got some shots of him. I just
wish there wasn't that big iron gate blocking his face.

Funnily enough, the sight of the camera perked him up-- he's obviously a
model. He got all wiggly and waggy, and started bringing his toys to the
gate to show me.

I swear, I had to get out of there right away before I tried to dognap him.

He's very sweet. I'm pretty sure Stinky and Dante would have some
objections though.

As would the dog's owners, I'm sure! Cute dog, though

Cute. Do you remember the film Turner and Hooch, he looks just like Hooch.

Oh, he is lovely. He looks like he might be a mastiff. He definitely has a
touch of the Hooch about him, doesn't he, although IIRC Hooch was a Dogue de
Bordeaux
http://www.doguedebordeauxclub.co.uk/breed.htm

Now I want one..when I saw there were some in rescue. I do have room here
and I do miss having a dog. I have to be sensible though, it would not go
down a bundle with KFC & Boyfriend. I guess it's out, then :-(
KFC is good with dogs actually. Boyfie would not cope at all. He is still
afraid of most people, rushes outside if the doorbell rings - it can
electrify him from being sound asleep on the sofa to being outside in a
megasecond - so there is no way I could inflict a Dogue on him. Or even an
ordinary dog. It took me ages to persuade him to come into the house at all
and now he feels safe inside there is no way I would jeopardise this.

I still long for a dog again though. I cannot even go to see my friend's
new whippet babes because it gives me what I call "whippet fever." She
wants to show them off to me, but I cannot go, whippets are my favoured
breed, I once had 11 of them. And I want 3 or 4 if I see them.

My cats took advantage of a temporary vacancy.

So much for his reputation as a guard dog! LOL.

Oh, I don't think he was out there on guard duty. I think he was out there
on "fresh air/watching the world go by" duty.
