Default New cat lying directly on Astroturf

Was trying unsuccessfully to get it to lie on a small piece of
Astroturf covered with a layer of paper towel. Apparently that
doesn't work unless it's their hangout, like on a windowsill or in a
sleeping loft. But, for the last two days, it has been lying directly
on the Astroturf (a big piece that Amazon sells). I'm a bit
surprised, since it's not very soft plastic. But it's a long-haired
cat, and apparently it realizes that that's the coolest place to lie
down (been hot lately). It's the first that willingly lies directly
on the Astroturf.
