I think I have four owners now
I'm not sure when it happened, but at some time in the last month, I
went from being a fosterer to being owned. (Shut up Yowie!) I am still resisting it, but the fact remains that Calico is still here, partly due to my father's death and partly due to her illness and partly due to her hyperthyroidism that is going to have to be treated. But she sleeps with me, all four cats greet me at the door when I come in, I have a special feeding routine just for her (she won't eat the kibble I have lying around). She has become routine in my household. I have become owned yet again. I wouldn't have thought it possible in this one bedroom apartment to have four cats and not have it disturb the peace. But except for a few growls here and there, they really get along great most of the time. Mind you, this does not mean I am not going to look for her a new home. But it does mean that it is going to come after I finish catching up in all of my classes, do my final projects, write thank you notes for my fathers funeral stuff, send out all the stuff to family members about my father's funeral like obituary and stuff. And THEN I will make flyers about Calico. Until then, she is doing quite well here and I see no reason to add one more thing to the mix of things I need to do. And I will be owned until we find someone else - a really good someone else - for her to own. Now that I am owned, there is no particular hurry to get her out of here. (I can hear you laughing, Yowie, it isn't very becoming.) Bridget |

Well, congratulations! Calico has done a good job, as have the trio
of prior residents. I know what you mean, though. If we hadn't had a home for Jet/Potjie already lined up, he would still be living here with us. Cats, eh, they have a way about them ... "We're raising these kittens until they're weaned and we can find them a proper home." --Dylan and me, to the vet, regarding the bitties, August 2003 LOL! Cats have a way of doing what they want....it's like our one cat decision. We'd only had one cat (Speedy Joe) and when a friend's cat had kittens we were firm. We would have preferred a boy (don't remember why) but that was all we were going to compromise on, we could DEFINATELY only have 1 cat.... So we go off to pick OUR kitten. There's these two tabbies running about and very cute then one of them comes up to me, stares at me with big blue eyes and makes it clear she wants to come onto my lap, where she gives off a purr too big for something so small. Within 5 minutes she is resting on my chest and giving me the look of love, I realise we have found OUR kitten. I turn to Dave with the good news.... Only to find the other kitten snuggled into his lap and Dave staring at her with complete and utter adoration. We both open our mouths at the same time each about to say we have found OUR kitten, I know I am not going home without this adorable little bundle of fur that's plainly in love with me and I, with her What comes out? Dave "It can't be much more expensive to have two" Me "They'll be company for each other" Felines-1 Hoomins-0 AGAIN! The funny thing is the adorable ball of fur that sat in my lap and purred like that was Fugazi who was never a lap cat and didn't much purr. I always suspect that 5 minutes after we arrived Isis took her aside and said "If you want us to stay together you take her lap and I'll take his" Lesley Slave of the Fabulous Furballs |

Well, you know, when there is no reason not to keep her (everyone gets
along) it is very true "what is one more cat". Concatulations! And to her too. Poor mite has had a very rough and upsetting time and if she is comfortable now, it must be fate.
