Default Nanki-Poo's new "bed"

Nanki-Poo pulled the worst BCT ever!

First, to set the stage:

As of yesterday, he has found a new place to lie - in the litter box. That
seemed a bit strange to me. He was there for an hour or so yesterday, and
for several hours today.

When I fed them, he came out into the kitchen, but didn't go near his dish
when he put it down. Then he gradually moved closer and closer to Lindy,
watching her eat. I could tell she was getting uneasy, so I picked him up
and put him by his dish. Then he started eating.

When I went in the bathroom, there was a puddle by the box. Apparently Lindy
had gone in there to use it, but Nanki-Poo was lying in it. He had obviously
used it before he went into the kitchen.

My sister called, and I was telling her about his behavior. She wondered if
he weren't punishing me for something. Suddenly I put 2 + 2 together. I
remembered the way he almost stalked Lindy at her food dish, and the puddle
by the box.

I remembered that Lindy got out twice yesterday, and was out for several
hours all together. I'll bet she taunted him with the fact that she had been
outside and he hadn't, and he was getting revenge, mostly by keeping her out
of the litter box.

Now for the BCT:

This morning I got up to go to the loo about 6:30. When I went in there,
Nanki was curled up in the litter box, with his face on the litter. He was
lying so still I touched him to see if he was breathing. I thought he was,
so I stroked him a little. He didn't move! I was sure he was either dead or
in a coma. I picked him up, and he moved, so I knew he was alive, at least.
I took him back to bed with me, and he just laid there next to me for a
while. He breathed really hard for about a minute, then his breathing was
normal, but my ear was against him and his heart seemed to be racing.
Eventually, he did his usual but of climbing on top of me. He really, really
didn't want to let me get up. Every time I turned or moved to get up, he'd
shift his position so he was still on top of me. He stayed on the bed when I
got up, but by the time I finished breakfast, he was back in the litter box.
He's been there most of the day.

Joy, I was thinking about you and Nanki-Poo last night, IDK what to advise
you to do about him being in the litterbox all the time, except to get
another one for Lindy?.
Poor Nanki-Poo.

Nanki-Poo, stop doing that this instant..you have your meowmie worried.

Joy, please send me an e-mail to my 'workable' Yahoo addy

Yes, I had a litterbox in the garage, so I brought one in and showed it to
Lindy. She was not impressed. ;-)

Cancer treatment is pretty harsh and very hard on the body. It'll probably
be a while before he's back to normal. I don't mean that something is
seriously wrong with him, but his body probably feels out of whack.

I don't know why he's sleeping in the cat litter, though!

He has an appointment to have his stitches out on Tuesday, but I'm going to
call tomorrow to see if I can't take him in sooner. His last blood test
showed he was somewhat anemic, but the doctor said that could be from the
radiation. So anemia could be one possible cause. There's also the
possibility that he's depressed because he can't go outside. The gophers
are having a field day with him cooped up in the house.

Poor guy! And he's probably frustrated and bored, which doesn't seem to
bode well for Lindy. I hope he'll be able to go out again when he's better.

Thanks, Joyce. Once his neck heals, he should be able to go out. I suppose
it would heal faster if I'd put the cone on him, but he's already miserable
without it. I can't bring myself to do that. It is healing, though.
