You'll get all sorts of answers to this question, from stuff you can only get in a pet specialty store to home cooked meals. I figure as long as they don't have specific health problems and like what you're feeding them, go for it! Jill |

Purina Kitten chow is only one I think that has more . Michael Lane n Flatrock, Tennessee My cats loved Friskies, which is what they were fed before I got them. However, they're both overweight, so my vet recommended Iams Weight Control. That's what they eat now, and they like it fine. I scatter some Friskies on the floor as treats a few times a day, and they like that too. They also get a small amount of canned Friskies in the evening. It was only Waffles who got that, but once I opened the Tuna and Egg, Pickles would push Waffles away from his dish to get it, so now I give them both some. It's funny, because in respect to everything except food, Waffles tends to push Pickles around. Joy Southern California |

Jill *Very* diplomatic, Jill! ; Michael, this is probably fourth on the list of subjects that will cause, well not a flame wars, we don't do flame wars here, but let's say a long discussion. It ranks just between 'indoor vs. outdoor', 'intact vs. speutered(1)', 'claws left decently/humanely intact or "declawed"' (it's clear to see which side of that debate I, and probably all of us here, are on - but it's one of the things we're passionate about, that being the one "hot button" troll to use). I believe in feeding canned food. I won't go into the pages long reasons why I feel that way, but here is a good, educational link about the subject: http://www.maxshouse.com/feline_nutrition.htm Warning, it's long and technically a bit difficult, but scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find *numerous* cites of very prestigious personages who contributed to the article. (1) For Jay, that's a contraction of "spayed" and "neutered" that we use here to denote both/either "spayed (females)" or "neutered (male)". -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, created by "Yowie", maintained by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.net/rpcablog/ Email: L(dot)T(dot)Crews(at)comcast(dot)net |

I've always used "neutered" for both males and females, but "spayed" only for females. Does anyone else? Jay One of the reasons for the flame wars on this subject is the fact that many people, including vets, believe cats should be fed only canned food because it is better for their kidneys, while others believe they should only get dry food because it's better for their teeth.
