"MacCandace" wrote in message ... I didn't get the impression that aol was having a problem like it did before; there are some aol people on 2 of my other ngs who've been posting okay. Too bad we missed the witty posts. ;-) Cathy Maybe they weren't quite as witty as I thought? Hmmm, could it be? Well, otoh, I haven't been reading all new posts on rpch+b, so don't feel too bad. g Were you affected by the power outage at all up there? Candace A little; not much, but that's right here - it varied widely - very sporadic. A friend less than a mile down the street was w/out power, whereas at my house the power must've gone out very briefly, 'cause my computer'd shut down & was coming back up, and my phones were out, but otoh the clocks weren't blinking, nor was the microwave, VCR etc. - they were all fine. I had a brownout for a bit, but full power came back quite quickly, so I was lucky. I was thinking that it's a good thing it was a clear night last night Vs. raining, otherwise all of those peole who slept out on the sidewalks in the city would've been extra miserable. I was also wondering how many peolple thought to sleep in Central Park - on a bench, or in the Sheep Meadow, say, instead of on a hard sidewalk. Cathy -- "Staccato signals of constant information..." It sure would have been scary, I think, to not be able to get home and to
sort of be homeless for a night. I guess everyone was pretty well behaved, though, at least in NYC. That was a very strange occurrence. Candace One fortunate thing is that this wasn't one of New Yorks' hard winter nights. What a nightmare that would have been. Sherry |
