Default Back from the brink

At least that is how I've felt over the past five days. I have been
suffering some type of flu type virus that included upper respiratory,
headache and gastric disorders. I had a fever over the weekend and
basically have spent my days since Saturday in bed asleep. Of course the
kitties took turns watching over me and helping to keep my feet warm.

I am trying to catch up now and have scanned the headers and hit the
requests for purrs (which are on the way), checked on Hazel's progress
(hugs coming your way Hazel) and all the kitten's in the group
(scritches to Weebles, and B&C and all of Lois' babies and Fez and Taz).
I think Bruiser has made it past baby stage but he gets skritches as
well.

Anyhow, purrs to everyone that needs them.

Yowie, I have a question. I'm sure some of us would like to send wedding
wishes but I suspect you aren't in need of the usual "new household"
wedding type gifts. Are you registered anywhere that we can access or do
you have a favorite store we can go to to purchase a gift card?
(Electronic/gaming stores included).

So sorry you have been feeling so terrible. Many purrs coming over for you
to feel better, and scritches to the cats for doing nurse duty.

That sounds like a very umpleasant bug - too many symptoms! On the
upside, at least it's not a cat bite this time. I hope you feel
better soon!

Err, um. We wasn't expecting anything other than "Happy Marriage" wishes &
purrs rom here, which was more than enough for us.

You are right about the new household gifts being unnecessary, seeing as
this isn't exactly a "new" household anymore :-). The new things we'd like
aren't the sort one would get at a wedding anyway, and I certainly wouldn't
expect anyone to be able to wrap up and send air mail to Australia (ie,
large electricals like aircon and a dishwasher for example). So we don't
have a gift registry - in fact, we are having a "gift optional" wedding. For
those who just insist that they have to bring a gift (silly people) we've
suggested "Target Gift Vouchers" which is just a department store here that
has a local specialised baby store. However, I'm not sure Target is an
international businss.

I'm also not sure of which other department stores here are truly
international chains. I think Coles/Myer/GraceBros might be one - I know
they have Myers in England at least. We also have K-marts here too (but then
again, they may just be part of the Coles/Myer conglomerate). While we also
have Woolworths, they *aren't* the same company as the English Woolworths
(there being a rather long and drawn out court case about that years ago).

But on a more practical side, although wedding gifts would never be
unwelcome here, perhaps instead of going to the trouble of finding a store
that you have near you and I also have near me, writing the letter, going to
the post office etc etc etc. you may just want to take the amount you were
planning to spend on a wedding gift, and give it to your local animal
shelter, or your favourite charity. Although far from "rich" by modern
Australian standards, we are undeniablely "comfortable" and there are many
more souls out there (furry and bare) to whom the price of a toaster or
towel set could literally make the difference between life and death.

Not that we'd be at all ungrateful for anything that does come our way, but
there are other people who are in far more need of your genosity than us.
The best thing we could get from RPCA & Catslave folk are your best wishes
and purrs, and I know we've got those already.

Yowie,

You have our warmest wishes and loudest purrs. In honor of your wedding,
we will be making a special donation to our local animal shelter.

Best regards.

sounds like some bad bug - glad to hear you're doing better, and that
you had good nurse-kitties.
