Just some thoughts... Lynxie's mom
Cold, lonely nights. Hunting for meager scraps of food on the streets...
Finding a quick fling of love and months later, bearing her kittens... Lynxie's mom raised him well until her tragic encounter with a car, as he was well nourished and healthy (sans-eye infection) when I found him... I sometimes think of her, realizing that if she hadn't died, I probably wouldn't have Lynxie right now. In a way, her sacrafice allowed her son to live in the lap of luxury and never have to worry about cars, hunger, cruel kids or any of those other horrid things that stray cats deal with on a daily basis... Ever think of your kitty's parents? Wonder who they were? The sort of life they lived? And if they were strays and are no longer among us, ever wonder if they're happy to look down upon their offspring and see them in a loving home, never having to hide and always having someone to play with and love them? I guess I'm just in one of those sentimental moods tonight... -Z |

Our newest adoption, Molly, however does make me wonder where she has been and what she has done. She is supposedly about 18 months old. All six and a half calico pounds of her. A trapped feral who has already raised the four kittens she was expecting at the time. In some ways she seems the ultimate house cat. Carefully washing her white paws till they are spotless. Other times she will leap into the air while playing with my grandson, so high you can imagine her bringing down birds in flight. She was so upset till we finally gave in and allowed her to go outside. Now she is mostly content just knowing she can. She makes just as mad a dash for the door to come back in as she does to go out. So far she will sleep in my feet, but will not sit on my lap. Jo |

Fuzzbox, my first cat, was an 'accidental' kitten born to a beautiful white pet cat in Manchester, she was speyed after rearing her first litter. She had great owners, and was very much spoiled. Spooky was a feral born kitten from a colony north of Preston, his mother was speyed and returned to the colony. She may still be alive, neutered cats in managed, fed colonies in these parts can easily live into their teens. I don't know about the others' mums. Jeanette |

I sometimes wonder about Betty's past too, although that includes hoomins in her case, since I got her as a 3.5 year old pet kitty that had been given up to the shelter. Sometimes when I see a picture of a tuxedo kitten, I wonder if that's what Betty looked like when she was little. |

Takayuki had some very interesting things to
say about Just some thoughts... Lynxie's mom: He's so lucky! Sometimes when I see a picture of a tuxedo kitten, I wonder if that's what Betty looked like when she was little. My desktop wallpaper is a picture of a kitten [taken from a school folder I found at WalMart] who looks like I think Felix probably did as a baby. I found him at the shelter when he was about 2, and was told he'd been there about two months after being picked up as a stray. That's all I know about his past before he claimed me. That and the shelter had had him neutered shortly before I met him. -- "The universe is quite robust in design and appears to be doing just fine on its own, incompetent support staff notwithstanding. :-)" - the Dennis formerly known as (evil), MCFL |
