Default I think Stripy Thing wants to be 'Our' cat!

He's getting more and more confident every day... and he's decided
that he likes John now as well. So as well as coming running for me,
he comes to say hello to John too. I feed him at lunchtime every
day that I see him, and he comes running upstairs to get his
gooshyfood. And he's apparantly trying to get up the nerve to come
inside. Yesterday he stood on the doorsill and he looked at Tessie and
she looked at him, and then he backed down and went away, and after he
had his lunch today he put his paws and his head inside and he seemed
to be looking around - then he noticed Silver and Tessica sitting on
the arm of the couch staring at him and changed his mind! To be
honest, if he ever DID decide to come in I'd be delighted, because I
love the little guy and I worry about him living outside. The girls
seem to be resigned to his taking some of my time and attention away
from them, and they know that there'll always be plenty of food to go
around, but I'm sure they'd be utterly horrified at the thought of
having to share their home with Stripy Thing!

I am thinking you are gonna have some horrified girl cats at your house very
soon now, Lee, knowing the signs... having lived them so often

I've got a pic of him someplace but I can't remember where I put it.
He's very curious about noises (that's what comes from living in the
Big Out where there are dogs and cars and strangers everywhere!) and
every time I tried to take his portrait, I got a picture of a blurry
nose coming towards the camera! He's a light grey stripy tabby like
Silver, only much thinner. His head and paws are quite big in
proportion to his body, like Tessie's when she was younger, again
because he's been living on his wits and going short on food while he
was growing.

He's such a sweetypie... when I go out the front door and close it and
my keys rustle in the lock he comes running out of the bushes to meet
me if he's anywhere in earshot, and he runs escort duty on me almost
every time I go up and down the stairs (which is sweet but sometimes
hazardous to both of our health, like when I was carrying a big
armload of groceries upstairs on the weekend - I almost dropped a tray
of cans on his tail when I lost my grip on it! His tail bristled up
into a bush... but he forgave me.) And like I said, he's decided that
if John is my human, he must be okay too...

One day I expect we will... I wonder how it will go? They've had a
long long time to get used to each other from the other side of the
window... first I would pet him downstairs and come up with his smell
on my hands, and then he started coming upstairs with me, and now he
comes up all the time and the girls see him eating every day. They
started out bristling and yowling at each other (Tessie would bristle
if she saw him downstairs in the garden a hundred feet away from our
apartment!) but the bristling is gradually going down to a token hiss
or two.

I agree, great going on a slow introduction. He sounds like a sweetie.

Purrs for Stripy Thing to move in. It took Shadow a long time now he's truly
part of the family.

I seem to remember Tessie taking a while to settle in....I think
pretty soon you're going to have some outraged girls on your hands!

I think you've done a great job already of integration, what with them
seeing each other through the windows and the screen door and all that.
They're already used to seeing Stripey Thing. He's probably going to come
inside if you let him. He's curious about the IN There may be a little
hissing and whatnot. But I'd sure be more comfortable with his being inside
with a few hissy fits than I am with him staying outside Good luck!
