Jellicle Ball
"Yowie" wrote in message ... I know that some folks here are active in RPCC. And some folks are quite antagonistic towards RPCC. However, the one thing I really really like about RPCC is their 'Jellicle Ball' (I assume 'Jellicle' is a mewochat pronunciation of 'Angelical'), where kitties that have gone ahead without us are listed, honoured and remembered. Hi, all. I post mostly on rpcc -- my cats are Sundance and Rebecca. "Jellicle Ball" comes from T. S. Elliot. Wikipedia says that "Jellicle cats" is a corruption of "dear little cats" -- that's a new one on me. RPCA used to do the same thing. I am thinking - and I would like RPCC poster's thoughts as well - whether RPCA & RPCC could do the Jellicle Ball together, ie, crosspost that thread (and no other). After all, its about kitties that have been very much loved and are very much missed. Somethign that RPCC and RPCA surely have in common. There are multiple threads for the Jellicle Ball, not just one. There are main ones for the major events of the ball (the calling of names at the beginning, calling them again at the end, separate threads for tributes to specific cats, general socializing, etc.). Meowchat will be used, but maybe the rpcc'ers could provide translations. I would be willing to do that, but I can't speak for anyone else. Sandy Anyway, just a thought. If folks think its a good idea here, then we'll have to approach RPCC and get their approval too. If it doesn't work out, there's nothing stopping us having our own (and if some cats are on both lists, thats OK too) Yowie |

it would be very nice if we could do it together, all it would take is
limiting the cross posts to the ball, often several threads some of which are activities, the calling of the names and tributes. and if people have trouble translating i am sure rpcc'rs would help with that, would be a nice "coming together" for the beginning of the holiday season. there is also a glossary that might help, and if you have the tim you can
download "thunder" which is a free screenreader which you could turn on for the meowchat, quite humorus... this is the same suiet of programs that gives me free e books from guetenburg and my bbc feeds, Lee wrote in message ... I have no antagonism toward RPCC, but I find meowchat difficult and very slow-going to read. I have to sound out each word like a first-grader. Maybe folks would be willing to go a little lighter on the meowchat, mix in a higher percentage of standard English so those of us who are slow on the uptake can participate? I thought that Jellicle Cats was something from the musical, Cats, and therefore was coined by TS Eliot. I haven't read the work nor have I seen the musical, but I think someone posted about that here a few years ago. one of the great things about rpcc is that you can post any way you like, we
even let the hoomins say things from time to time... also I think someone will probably post the history of the ball as often happens this time of year Lee ingold1234[at]yahoo[dot]com (Gandalf) wrote in message ... I am not sure if you have given your names before but look on rpcc for one
of the posts from the cat who calls the names, she has just posted a first draft of names in the last week or so, i think the link to the walk is in her sig, if not then ask her for it, you can check to see if you friends are there, Lee "CatNipped" wrote in message ... I wouldn't mind the meow chat as long as it was limited to this topic (and,
as others have said, a translation would be nice). The only (slight) objection I have to meow chat is that I think, if our cats could talk, they would sound more like Harvard professors who had to "talk down" to us mere mortals, not the babies we expect them to be. ; -- Hugs, CatNipped See all our masters at: http://www.PossiblePlaces.com/CatNipped See the RPCA FAQ site, by Mark Edwards, at: http://www.professional-geek.com/rpcablog/ "Dan M" wrote in message news:s96dnf5uVqoTozLRnZ2dnUVZ_sednZ2d@powerusenet. com...
