Default Fascinating lights?

Buffy was not at all interested in the laser pointer. Persia, before
her, loved the laser pointer for a while, but quickly grew tired of it.
Ho hum, it's that red dot thing again. Next!

I have a glass prism filled with water hanging in the window of the
living room. Persia may have grown tired of the red dot, but she never
tired of chasing the rainbows on the carpet! I'd set it to spinning and
she'd dash all over, chasing the rainbows.

Buffy didn't show any interest last year but maybe the sun wasn't
exactly in the right spot. I filled the prism with fresh clean water.
Hung it up, twisted the filiment it hangs from. Let it go and it spun
around, casting little rainbow spots of light on the floor.

Buffy didn't chase them, but she sure noticed and watched the whirling
spots of light on the floor. She was curious, but not enough to chase
them. I'm not sure she can relate "lights" on the floor as toys.

It's entirely possible, too, that she can't really see the red dot. Or
the rainbows cast by the water filled prism. She might be colour blind.
No way to tell.

I don't have a laser pointer, but Minnie does chase the light from a flashlight
around. She even goes up the wall after it. That's just how she rolls. If it's
moving, Minnie will notice and investigate with her tail going a mile a minute.

Koala insists on some play with the laser pointer every evening just
before I go to bed. He will chase it up and down the hall, and
sometimes just watch it and make occasional dives at it. Incidentally,
I have several laser pointers, which I picked up at the Dollar Tree.
When the batteries go dead, I just start using a new pointer, since I
don't think I could replace the three batteries for $1.

Ollie was fascinated by the laser pointer for a while (and would
sometimes keep coming back to the spot where it vanished for days
afterwards waiting for it to reappear) but he has now figured out
what makes it. He's rather like a kid who's realized there is no
Santa.

That's the way Pickles was. I was given one of those towers that shows
the red dot intermittently and moves it around. Pickles was fascinated
at first. The she put her paw on the red dot and saw it on the back of
her paw. She completely lost interest after that. Koala knows it isn't
real, but doesn't seem to care.
