When I was growing up, there were a couple of waterbeds in the family, and I don't recall cat claws ever causing trouble [the beds were customarily equipped with thick mattress pads between mattress and bottom sheet]. Oh yes, that pad is the most important part, especially since I see her listening curiously to the bubbles when I forget to let them out. But she's never even come close to clawing the waterbed - only the rug, which is fine with me! -- Sonam anais+at+electric-ink+dot+com |

I have heard that many kitties don't use the carpet ones. Most prefer
something roughish to work their claws on, someething they can shred-- a wooden post with some rope wrapped around would give two choices for your kitty. It's best to get one when you first introduce your cat to the house so that it doesn't bond w/ the furniture but instead the post. i got mine too late and although he loves to work his post, he still occassionally touches the furniture. I am still working on cutting his claws too. He's a big feisty young one, not properly handled as a kitten. 14 lbs of mus-cle. |
